However, I think it's important to welcome into the fold any form of modeling or "playing with trains." I am not going to be taking it to a high level, but my 9 year old daughter may get hooked and as she grows up embrace the deeper levels of the hobby. Or her son (not for 20 years I hope ;)), or...
The point is don't pooh pooh any chance to grow the hobby.
Actually, I'm the group liberal. Put a Bachmann sound equipted 2-8-0 and a GP9 side by side and see which one your daughter finds more fascinating.
