What is the set?  Please describe the contents and the approximate date made.  The name of the set would help.

As a general rule of thumb, it is rare to get more than $50 for any HO set made before the late 1990's. But yes, we do need to know more if you want us to give you a better estimate.

This is not Antiques Roadshow. Contrary to popular belief old trains are not work big bucks unless you have a mint Lionel 1929 Blue Comet set in standard gauge.

Don't expect that your train set is worth very much. There are not a lot of set collectors out there and if it is old HO from the seventies it has little value.

Post more information.

If you want to sell it for some money, try eBay, but don't expect more than around $15 or so.
