HO / ?type of decoder in my 4-4-0
March 21, 2015, 06:11:24 PM
I have a Spectrum 4-4-0 of unknown age. It has factory sound and DCC. It is lettered C&NW #221. I have no data on it but I would like to adjust the CVs. Where could I find the decoder manufacturer and the CV values to change?

HO / Setting top speed on 2-8-0
October 28, 2008, 09:12:39 PM
My new 2-8-0 with Tsunami decoder is fantastic! It runs and sounds great, however it runs too fast and I cannot find a CV to change just this feature.
Can it be done as in other decoders?

HO / New Bachmann spectrum 2-8-0 : Problem?
June 23, 2008, 04:01:44 PM
I went to my LTS and picked up a Bachmann 2-8-0 with DCC on board but NO sound. I have a Digitrax Zephyr set to address 03 and speed step 128.
This thing whines like I had it on DC. It requires 60% throttle to get it to move then runs like lightning until I throttle down to 40%. Anything below 40% results in jerky motion.
Since it is new, I don't want to run it too much nor lubricate it until I make sure that this is normal for this unit.
What shall I do?

HO / Shay problem
May 30, 2008, 12:59:37 PM
When I finally got my Shay a couple of months ago, It would not pull itself around my circular  test track. I discovered that only one of the trucks was connected to the motor (the front one) I sent it off to Bachmann and 7 weeks later it came back worse than before. Now, in addition to the original problem, the center U joint has fallen out and doesn't want to go back and the front truck is too tight  (no problem, I can probably back it off)

I really wonder if they did much to repair the original problem or not. It cost me $26.00 to send it to them. It was money and time wasted!

HO / Bachmann Spectrum 3 truck Shay
April 07, 2008, 05:07:41 PM
I just received my Shay yesterday. It was ordered last novemder by a reputible sound installer. He installed a Micro Tsunami with the "light logging" label. I must admit, the sound is very accurate as is the running ability. HOWEVER, the thing will not pull itself around my 19" radius test oval. The wheels just slip and it stands still, chugging and clanking away. I know these Shays should pull a few cars upa  decent grade so what could be wrong? I also have trouble placing it on the track with all the U joints intact. The rear one separates and I need to start all over. Could the installer have reassembled it wrong? If the front and rear trucks were interchangeable, then the wheels would be fighting each other and thus have little traction but this is not the case (I think) What say you?
