Day of the Diesels recently aired on PBS Sprout today and Sidney never appeared! I'm a bit confused by this..
Woah Woah WOah. Now hold up. Yes he wasn't at the steam works and yes he wasn't helping rebuild but when they were all laughing at Percy's joke and when Percy led the rebellion Sidney was there. Although he must have gotten side tracked...idk but the whole thing is confusing indeed other than that IT WAS A PRETTY DECENT MOVIE!
It was awesome! Plus my bachmann Mavis arrived today so it really was Day of the Diesels! :D :D ;D ;D
Sadly, I think this factor is an excellent example of HiT'S "Here's a new merchandising opportunity" look on the series....

Sidney appears in one scene where he's on a lift without his wheels, apparently being repaired.

i searched for it and nothing came up. i don't think they are going to air it again. someone put it on youtube though. it's under the name "how to read a book" so HiT doesn't take it down.
Oh I saw that! Just type in How to read a book part 1 and there it is!
Another thing with Sidney...what happened to him in the fire? He was hoisted up without wheels, he wasn't present at the Steamworks, and he was never mentioned again...I wonder what happened...
He was gone by the time Kevin arrived at the Dieselworks.

That's a possibility, since the Sprout airing was trimmed.
Buy the DVD and find out?
