Thomas & Friends / Easy Thomas Model Projects
January 22, 2008, 04:50:32 PM
I am looking for easy Thomas modeling projects such as detailing engines and freight cars, building buildings, ect. If you have any detailing projects/improvements for Emily, Henry, Annie, Clarabel, or Troublesome Truck #1, then tell me because these are the only Thomas HO items I have at the moment. Thanks in advance!

How much would it cost to buy it in the US?

Does anyone know where I could get a model just like the one TopKazFatt uses in the US without it costing a lot?

Uh... the common rail never switches. And... leads...? Is that the common rail wire? I only attached it to one. How can I get the common rail wire to every terminal?

Uh... I put the insulated rail joiners in where they should be. Pics of the plan can be found here: http://www.freewebs.com/thewarriorcodegraphics

HO / Wiring help with an Atlas layout
January 21, 2008, 02:30:33 PM
I have the book The Atlas Beginner's Guide to HO Model Railroading, and I built layout #06 from it. I kind of changed the sidings in the middle around a bit, but I kept the terminal track where it should be. The link for it is http://www.atlasrr.com/Code100web/pages/10006.htm. I need help wiring it. I don't get how to. I am using DC and have all the required parts but when I wire a section of track it doesn't work. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Thomas & Friends / Re: Question About Emily

Ok thanks Guilford Guy! I guess we'll just leave this topic to be deleted, or maybe some people who worry a lot about those things will find it useful! =)

(P.S. Isn't Guilford a railroad or place? And isn't it in New England? If it is, I live in the same region as it  :))

No... I didn't. I didn't notice the sticker until I was in the car going home.

Thomas & Friends / Question About Emily
January 20, 2008, 05:02:52 PM
I just got Emily from my hobby shop ( :)) and on the thing in the back that shows the different Thomas models there was a sticker that said, "Warning. This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm." Why would it have this? When I got my Henry model it didn't have that on it. Is it just something random put there by accident, or do other people have it on there's too?

Gee the chain idea is quite popular!  :D I will put the chains on, but maybe not to use them to couple. Also, working lights sounds like a cool idea! Anyone know how I could build a lantern that the engines have? To StanierJack: I know I'm worrying a lot about them, but do those acryllics come out smooth like factory paint, or make it look like you painted wood?

Ok thanks everybody for your ideas. The chains are a good idea, except I'll paint them black or gray. To StanierJack: Are those acryllic paints?

Thomas & Friends / Detailing Projects

I have Henry, Annie, Clarabel, Troublesome Truck #1, and I'm about to get Emily. I want them to look more detailed like the ones from the show. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to them?

P.S. I'm going to get Modelflex paint. Does anyone know the color that would be the same as the buffers, or at least real close?)

Hey Guilford Guy-Could I add water to the paints instead, or do I have to buy new ones? Also, I do brush painting. Could this affect it?

Well, do acrylic paints really work? I used black acrylic on my Henry model to touch him up and a) it was kind of splotchy and b) it looked like the parts I painted were wood. I used just regular acrylic paint with not doing anything to it. Is their some way to make it look like it's still plastic? Should I do something to the paint to make it look better?
