Do you mean Model Power Mikado? I'm not aware of any recent Bachmann 2-8-2. If you do mean Model Power, then I can tell you a bit about it. It's a pretty good runner, but it has no factory installed traction tire. The tender is 4 wheel pickup only. I don't have insulated switches, so I can't comment on that.

There are a number of them on Ebay. All Bachmann.

Can anyone tell me a little about this loco. Does it have traction tires? Does it negotiate insulated switches OK i.e. all wheel drive? Is it smooth/quiet?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply. Are there any comparable locomotives without the traction tires?  I was looking at the 4-8-2 but I think it is a bit long for my layout.
Thanks

N / Bachmann Spectrum Diesels VS Steamers

Just curious...
Do the Bachmann Steam locomotives utilize the same motors and drives as the much cheaper  diesel engines?
No offense intended but I had one or two of the Bachmann diesels and considered them toys in comparison to Atlas or Kato.  So do the steamers really perform considerably better?

Dear Cam,
Do you mean an installed curve?
I'd use a string and a ruler.
Have fun!

Yes. It is for installed curves.  I read that some Locomotives that I was interested in purchasing recommend a minimum 19 inch radius.

I'm new to Bachmann Steam Locos and was just wondering if this model has all wheel pickup and drive to that it negotiates plastic insulated frogs.  Does it have traction tires?
