I am running two ovals--18" and 22" with DC

I have 2 MRC Sound and Power 7000 supplies

I can switch the  supplies between the ovals

In addition to other manufactuer steamers I have Bachmann  2-8-0  2-8-4  4-8-2  4-8-4

All Bachmann are DCC equipped and I have inserted the jumpers  to bypass the DCC

The 2-8-0 and 4-8-2 and all my non Bachmann have no problems with either supply

The 4-8-4  and 2-8-4 will only run in reverse on supply A  --they run OK on supply B

Any ideas ?

HO / Getting rid of the cable
May 02, 2009, 12:16:35 PM
I don't have or want DCC
The cable is a pain
I have successfully snipped it and tied the motor and light to the motor pickup leads on 2 engines but it entails stowing the cable up behind the drawbar swivel on the engine --very cramped and stripping the leads is very chancy

Does anybody know how hard it is to remove the body shell and solder jumpers internally

In several topics it has been stated Bachman tenders are under weight
How do you add weight--where and what is used

HO / Bachman cable plugs
March 31, 2009, 10:46:35 AM
Bachman engines have two plugs--a four and two pin

The four goes to the motor and the light --I think

What is the two pin--does it connect  the engine drivers to the tender circuits

If so then than the cable can be eliminated by connecting the two pin to the four pin at the engine --correct

I know this would negate DCC and sound but the cable is bugging me more and more

HO / 2-8-0 cable
March 30, 2009, 04:43:27 PM
Well I got the 2-8-0 with sound instead of installing a decoder in my original 2-8-0 as I said I would

Only problem the cable is so stiff the tender wheels won't stay on the track --it rides too high in the front

Before I try and ream out the drawbar hole are there any other suggestions ?

I read about DC track and DCC track

Is there some kind of difference in layout design
