On30 / On30 4-4-0 into a 8-18c?
February 15, 2013, 12:46:42 PM
Would it be possible to turn a Bachmann On30 IF 4-4-0 into an 8-18c 4-4-0. I don't know if it's possible, but it looks as a if you shortened the back head up a little it could be molded into one. I am aware that the motor is back there, but could that also be moved.

Thanks

The 8-18c/d 4-4-0/2-6-0 still sounds like a nice idea.

The 8-18c/8-18d 4-4-0/2-6-0 should come first as they have been on the list for years. The k's will have their day.

I ment no harm or rudeness with my last reply; so I do apologize if it came off that way.

All I am trying to say; it would be lovely to have another locomotive for the 19th century that all roads might of had. If we can have two 4-4-0s, two articulated's; we can have 2 2-6-0s and one can be the 8-18d because it can be made into so many different engines with out much modifications, and will be a top seller.

With all due respect Royce; the reason I say the 8-18d 2-6-0 would be better; is because it's two engines or maybe three engines in one. You can make it into a 4-4-0,4-6-0 or keep it as the 2-6-0. I am aware of the fact the 2-6-0 currently is based off the a Cooke engine; but it's not what most are looking for; well what I'm looking for anyway. I've taken mine, and tried backdating with no good results; but as I added a steel cab from the 2-8-0 and a congdon stack to it; eureka! Twas a beautiful swamp logger.

Anyway, this is the reason I bouch for the 8-18d 2-6-0. It can be made into several other engines without much modification, and would be a very nice addition to the bachamann line. I model the 1880s-1915 and it would be perfect for my route, I'd buy four or five, two to keep original two to turn into 4-4-0s, and one to make a 4-6-0. If the engine was made, everbody would win.

I dosen't have to be the 4-4-0 for me; the 8-18d 2-6-0 is perfect. It can be converted to to the 4-4-0 no problem ;)

I 2nd this motion x2! The 8-18c and D are some of the most classic locomotives in US history and would sell very well, on the market. I highly recommend that these engines are made.

On30 / Re: Any one for new cars?

That's the ticket. A proper 8-18c 4-4-0, some vestibule coaches, barrel cars, and wood cars like the ET&WNC had.

My railroad is known as the Barefoot & Southern, based in 1880 in the winter. It's an On30 layout that serves the swamps of NC doing logging and such. It will run a few 8-18c 4-4-0s. It's not your typical logging line though, it also handles mainline freights and passenger service, due to the popularity of game hunting. The locals are a bunch of fish trappers and loggers, and they're not big a fan of the new people coming in to develop on their fishing grounds. The however enjoy the rail service to the outside world to get supplies and logging equipment.

General Discussion / Re: 19th century cab colors?
May 05, 2012, 03:05:48 PM
Thanks ya'll.

I'm modeling from 1875-1888, where the 8-18c, 8-18d where in service along with the c-16s.

Just as confirmation, cab color green was used in this era? I am aware of the early brass work, and paint schemes, which can be really really hard to model haha.
From what I've seen in the Eureka, she has no colors inside, but a stained wood, which I like, but I'm wanting to model as close as possible. I am a rivet counter lol.

I do 3d modeling as well as On30. I'd really like to have an 8-18c 4-4-0 in On30 or an 8-18d 2-6-0.

Thanks ya'll

General Discussion / 19th century cab colors?
May 04, 2012, 06:17:53 PM
Did the engines back in the 19th century have cab color green or, was it just stained wood or something. I've seen on the V&T Inyo, and Reno, they had cab green, but it looked rather blueish in tent. Thanks for any help.

How about EBT #11 2-6-2. It's about time we had some EBT locomotives running around, after all we have all the others from the more major lines. ET&WNC 4-6-0, C&S 2-6-0, SRRL 2-4-4, two unknown roads of the 4-4-0s and 2-6-6-2. I'd really like to have a 8-18c 4-4-0 though haha. But anywho, EBT #11 would be perfect.
