To no offense to all ya'll western style modelers, but the EBT Mike is perfect for what we need. I'm sorry to say, but all I hear is, K-27s and western style this and that. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the western stuff, but my goodness, it gets to become annoying after a bit.
forgive my rant.

The Ebt mike is a good choice because it will be the 1st EBT model made by Bachmann, and could be universal, with the WPY, and a few railroads out west I do know of that had that style of engine. I personally would like to see EBT 14, small, and humble enough to take the radius's. I'm pretty sure you could make it outside framed from one of the 2-8-0s. MMI already sells the K class engines, though at a price that is too high, for I think it's worth. No sound no buy.

A 8-18d 2-6-0 would be Ideal to have for On30. The engine is easily convertable to a 4-4-0. It's like having two engines in one. I think On30 needs some RTR engines that are from the 1800s. It would match up with their rolling stock quite nicely. If B-mann continues to produce more modern equipment, then why not start updating the rollingstock as well? Even though I'm not a fan of more modernization, it would make more sense to match the engines with period rollingstock.

IMHO, I don't believe Bachmann would make an engine built by a different nation; but I can be wrong. I'm not a huge fan of a garrett engine, or anything that's not an alco, or baldwin built engine.

I've always wonderd what the extra two levers were, that connect to the safety valves of a 19th century steam locomotive. Are they emergency relief handles for manually opening up the safeties in case they don't pop, or do they serve a different purpose?

8-18c 4-4-0
8-18d 2-6-0
c-16 2-8-0 1800s version not the over rated Colorado 1930s version.

EBT 2-8-2
SRRL 2-6-2 or SS&S or even EBT #11

BUILDINGS! We need some realistic building, and track would be great too!

Rounded roof Caboose with a higher coupola
rounded roof box car,

Basically anything from the 1870s-1909 will work for me and make me happy!

Ok ya'll, nice discussion on the 4-4-0; but I really made this topic to gain support for the engine, not to debate wheather or not bachmann and MMI shouldn't do it.

Now that looks like it could be converted to a pretty little 4-6-0 like ET&WNC #9.

Indeed, but the one currently isn't an 8-18c which was made just for that sort of budget lol. I like the little cute IF 4-4-0 that's already being made, but that ugly duckling the OF I don't like.

Sorry Royce, it may backdate well, but it's not my cup of tea. It doesn't look good to me. I need authentic equipment. The 8-18d 2-6-0 would be a good choice to make anyway, it can easily be made into the 8-18c 4-4-0. MMI is not getting enough interest due to the fact it cost so much, and it's not offered in sound. If MMI would make them, I would go ahead and buy two or three; but it doesn't look as if they're going to make it, and people are getting rather fed up with not knowing wheather or not if anyone is going to come out with one or not. It may be of great interest for Bachmann to go ahead and make it while people are willing to buy it. Like in music, when ever there are bands with the same name, it's the one who gets famous first who gets to keep the name. Competition is what we need anyway. MMI can announce all they want to, but in order to sell, they gotta make it!

Bachmann

I am begging you for some equipment from the 19th century. Primarly the 8-18c 4-4-0. It sadly doesn't look as if MMI will produce many of the engine. It would be most awesome if you could make this engine, and offer it in sound! Many people including my self would love to see this engine in production. I understand you already have the cute IF 4-4-0 and the horrid OF 4-4-0, but it wouldn't hurt to add one more 4-4-0 to the line of products already in use. If you're not willing to pass on the request for the 8-18c 4-4-0 how about the 8-18d 2-6-0 which could be converted in the 8-18c without much hassle.

Please Bachmann I beg you to make this engine, and I rather not be so immature about it as I was last time with 4-6-0, which I do not take credit for.

THanks

On30 / Re: 1840's or 1850's-era On30s?

The OF 4-4-0 is the last thing you want for an 1800s village. The 4-4-0 was indeed popular, but that ugly OF 4-4-0 wasn't about until the 20th century. I would recommend the 2-6-0 or the IF 4-4-0. You can backdate the 2-6-0 to 1870s vintage, and the If 4-4-0 is more accurate to the time period, even though it isn't an 8-18c 4-4-0 from 1875. If those engines aren't your taste, you could go over to Brodway Limited, and check out their c-16 2-8-0s which were built in the 19th century. Though you might want to backdate them to the era.
