Thomas & Friends / Dapol N Scale "Thomas" Character
March 24, 2009, 08:52:11 PM
Cross Post from another Forum
I believe this somewhat follows the code of conduct as it is not intended to steal purchases away from a Bachmann Market.

Dapol will introduce these dimunitive steamer locomotives this weekend in London. Knuckle couplers will be included.

They have a tungsten underframe and a 40:1 gear ratio so despite their tiny size can creep and pull four coaches. Now, that's the way to build things, IMHO!  8) 8)

... set Penn Central's Management on you!
Has anyone seen heads or tails(well, feet) of Rich?
His last posts dictate he was still posting in August, but that was four months ago...
Rich, do you read me? You DO NOT want me to set the New Haven Eater Uppers on you!

The Valley Railroad has purchased the former Knox & Kane SY Mike 1658. They will be doing a real life kitbashing. Plans are to rebuild it from the ground up, and externally modify her with a new cab, modified pilot, and whistles/bells/headlights from original New Haven Steamers, none of which survive today. The Tender is going to be altered to look close in appearance to a New Haven clear vision tender. She is expected to be in service by the 2011 Season! Updates shall follow.

General Discussion / Attention Teenage Railfans
October 24, 2008, 09:24:13 PM
As most of you know there were shenanigans in California involving the collision of a Commuter Train and a Freight Train, and the death of many people. The engineer is at fault for choosing to send a text message to railfan Nick Williams, who is in no way responsible. Yesterday, an 18 year old, put information on his MySpace Page telling of how he was given the chance to run a Metra Commuter Train. Because of these two events, the railroads have been cracking down, and enforcing new rules on Trainmen. Many railroad Employee's-Engineers, Freight Railroad Conductors, Passenger Conductors- across the United States have lost many privileges. On Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad, conductors can no longer use cell phones, laptops, or even calculators. All cell phones have to be turned off even if the train is not in motion, or they are laying over. And you can forget about cab rides. After 3 engineers in Chicago got suspended for letting a kid run a Commuter Train, why would any employee risk their career in place of a foamer. So all you Teenage Railfans out there- Just Think. "If someone finds this they could get in trouble."
Thank You. Now I begin a 3 year wait until things calm down enough for cab rides to be offered.

On30 / Future Roadnames for Railbus
August 04, 2008, 09:14:43 PM
Hello, I know these haven't even been released yet, but I just wanted to use my 2 cents for Future Roadnames... The Hoosac Tunnel & Wilmington was a 3 ft gauge line between Hoosac Tunnel Mass, and Wilmington Vermont, via Readville Vermont... HT&W owned a Railbus virtually identical to your model, and the railroad was home to the first railroad enthusiast excursion.

Watch the embedded video, the investigator refers to the train as a "Burlington Northern Freight Train."
I sympathize for the crew, and the injured employee.

Hi Guys. I was just wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head what that scale measurement of the drivers on these two locos. I need to find a six-coupled set of drivers with a 73" diameter wheel for a project.
Thanks!

General Discussion / EMAIL CAUTION!
April 26, 2008, 01:46:52 AM
Hi all, just a heads up on an upsetting email I received. While the Title and link claimed to be of a specific locomotive, and the sender signed it as a member of trains.com, the link instead sent me to a website which is intended to catch and get the information on child pornographers. If any of you receive an email claiming to be a member of Trains.com, who you do not know, do not click any links, since the last thing you want to be right now is dragged off to jail.
