Title: Best Knuckle Couplers for the Bachmann SD45?
Post by: Earle Baldwin on May 05, 2009, 08:57:20 AM
Would anyone be willing to share his/her opinion regarding the best option for converting the Bachmann SD45 to knuckle couplers? I have read several accounts of the Micro-Trains coupler being problematic for this unit.

Thanks in advance,

I believe the proper conversion coupler is a 1015. The clearance between the front of the truck and the back of the coupler is very tight. I filed a bit from the front of the truck and the back of the coupler to gain some clearance.

I ended up with 2004-1 couplers on this loco because I lowered the body on the frame a bit and needed the offset coupler to compensate.
