Title: Bachmann headquarters question
Post by: trainman203 on February 03, 2023, 10:42:30 AM
I looked at your headquarters on 1400 east Erie Ave on Google earth.

What is the double track railroad that runs down the street in front of your building? The Erie? ;D

Those are old streetcar tracks.  They are not in service at this time although the streetcars are coming back in other areas of Philadelphia, so maybe we will see some action in the future.

Here is a website showing various photos of the streetcars in action. Philadelphia Streetcars (https://hiddencityphila.org/2014/05/capturing-late-1960s-philadelphia-trolleys-neon-cobblestones-and-all/)

The electrified buses are really interesting. It seems like it would take some real skill to drive those and keep them aligned correctly with the overhead wires.

Good one, The Erie didn't even make it to Erie, let alone Philadelphia.

Ha.
OKC has streetcars coming back, but IDK what progress they've made on those. I love the Memphis streetcars, though. Wish they'd open up that old riverfront line again.
