I have not seen this issue on any of the six I have. Does it cause an operational issue!

Ditto,
Thanks to all at Bachmann; I now have all of my Bachmann locomotives running again. Oh how those geared Shays and Climaxes running down the track make me smile. ;D

If you read far enough you will see I had the same issue with the replacement clips. I had to file a little off the bottom of the clips.

I was having the same issue and orderred new clips. The wheel still spun freely  ??? then... the light bulb in my brain turned on. The gear on the wheel may not be hitting the gear on the drive line because the wheel is to far into the center of the axel. I gave the wheel a little push out towards the gear while holding the other wheel and...... It fixed that wheel. ;D
Give it a try what do you have to loose?
Good Luck.
Larry

Update, they shay has been running and running on the test track 45 minutes so far.

These are simple DCC conversions. I have done a few but I never did a SBS for this conversion. Are you any good at soldering it will be required.

In the next couple of weeks I will be rebuilding a davenport that us a stack of parts that was sent to me as scrap. I will be putting DCC in it so I will take pictures and post something that will help.

On30 / Re: Shay U Joint Assembly / Disassembly
August 07, 2013, 07:29:59 PM
"How do you assemble the joint, do you just squeeze the two ends together enough to fit into the ring and pop back to shape in the holes?  Also, is there any way to disassemble it without just snipping off the ring?  I would rather just replace the sleeve part, and not try to pull off  / press on the part that goes on the crankshaft."

First off it might help to remove the truck before you do this.

Do not bend the u joints in as they should be metal and therefore may not bend back perfectly.

The o ring is a strong rubber or plastic and will change shape if squeezed in so give it a squeeze. This should allow enough room to remove and reapply the u joints.

Good Luck

The thread shows a number of different options for figures as well as scale heights.

I have not tried swopping the tanks but the cabs have different methods of being secured to the engine. Old cabs are held on by a tab and slot. New are held on with screws.

On30 / Re: need help with on30 rail truck gears
March 02, 2013, 12:11:35 AM
I have four with broken gears. I did receive one set of replacement gears but they also failed. I have not figured out a fix but I am still working on it.
My next thought is to strip all the gears out and power a trailer cars to push the rail truck. I also have one truck in a sealed box. I was thinking of trying to cast replacement gears from a new gear.
Such a shame that such nice models sit unused.

The gear issue has prompted this request on line.

A lot of people love Bachmann's products but just want them to run.
