Ah, history!

This is one of those events that makes me wish for time travel, to get a bird's eye view.  Imagine pulling off a heist where the loot is several dozen locomotives and a large string of rolling stock.

If memory serves... a large portion of the locos were the unattractive Winan's Camel, a very efficient machine for its day.  Too bad none of those survived for preservation.

Didn't the Confederates harvest a couple of the boilers for the iron clads?

Regards,

Jonathan

J3 - Thanks for the link. What started as a quick check of the Bachmann board this morn just turned into a couple of hours of reading about the raid.
