Title: Any ideas about finding a GP40 DCC w/sound for a Bachman Loco
Post by: wrestling #1 on December 08, 2008, 06:35:53 PM
I currently have a Bachman GP40 DC loco that I was hoping to upgrade to DCC w/sound.  But I'm being told that Bachman doesn't make this loco with sound.  Can anyone give me advice on what Loco's this shell would work on?  The current shell is held down by two opposite screws under the fuel tank.

Your least expensive and easies route is to get an Atlas GP40 with QSI - around $200- on the net, and sell your Bachmann GP40.

Alternatively, you could get a Soundtraxx Tsunami EMD 645, speakers, enclosure for the speakers, a little bit of milling on the frame, and you'd be all set.  About $160- plus labor, figure about $75 to $100 for labor.  You would not be asking this question if you knew how to do this.

The Bachmann GP40 shell will fit on other chassis with major modifications to the shell and/or chassis.  A milling machine is a good asset to have for chassis modifications.
