N / 4-8-2 light mountain prototype?
August 31, 2011, 11:36:49 AM
hi everybody, i just recently got one of the 4-8-2 light mountains in the unlettered version. i'm not modeling a specific rr and i'd kinda like it to be accurate, so does anyone know what prototype bachmann based the light mountain on? it kinda looks like a drgw mountain to me but i'm not sure. thanks if you can help!

N / 4-6-0 tender shell question?
April 03, 2011, 04:31:17 PM
hi guys, im wanting to get one of the new 4-6-0s, but im wondering about the tender shell. it looks like to be the same shell as on the 2-8-0, the usra medium size tender. id like to get the 4-6-0 in unlettered, buy a 2-8-0 tender shell for a certain roadname, and then replace it on the 4-6-0 and then letter the number myself. would this be possible, or are the tender shells for the 2-8-0 and 4-6-0 different? thanks if you can help!

as far as I'm concerned, I'd just be happy with a 4-6-4 k4 available in a couple of railroad names. Something from PRR would be nice as there is very little in n scale (i live right near old PRR tracks).

don't u mean 4-6-2? i don't think prr had hudsons

N / Re: 0-4-0 docksider repair?
February 02, 2011, 08:58:43 PM
ok thanks skipgear, one of the front wheels just spins and the other doesnt move so i guess thats it

also mr bachmann, i know it wouldnt be covered by warranty but would the service department be able repair it? or are the 0-4-0s totally out of production so much that they would just send me a replacement loco of the same value?

its got the same valve gear as in the picture and i checked and it does have the plastic gears, but i opened it up and the gears don't appear to be cracked, they look intact like on my other locomotives

N / 0-4-0 docksider repair?
January 31, 2011, 09:26:24 PM
hey guys i was finally able to locate one of the little b-mann docksideres from the 80s. only prob is that it doesnt run. i took it to my hobby shop and they took a look at it, they told me that the wheels are out of quarter and that they couldnt repair it. they told me to send it back to b-mann for repair, but i know that they dont make these anymore and they would just send me a new locmotive (i think). does anyone know what i can do? i really want this one to run and i dont know how to repair it myself

Got a couple of these guys.  Re-motoring is a challenge, but it is the kind of locomotive my wife and I are looking for.  The info on the Docksider is here:

http://www.visi.com/~spookshow/bach040.html

Nigel Lawton used to make a re-motor kit.  (They are for HOn30 but the original body still fits.  He's not making them now, but if enough people ask ...)

thanks for the info but i already know about the docksider, i just need to find one now. where did you get yours?

N / n scale docksider
October 01, 2010, 08:07:31 PM
i know that bachmann used to make one of these, but i can't find it now. i want to buy one to kitbash into a saddletank that looks different than a docksider, but i can't find a docksider. does anyone know where i can get one besides ebay (cant buy off of there) or searching for one at train expos?
