On30 / Re: 2-6-6-2 Problem
February 04, 2016, 01:27:24 AM
I have checked all wiring connections and they seem ok. I hooked the loco up to my 4-6-0 tender and it ran without any problem but looked ridiculous so I tried the 2-4-4-2 tender but to no avail. I'm taking it to a specialist repair shop next week and I will let you know. My thoughts are to the sound board.

That was the first thing I checked and all are seemingly ok.
I will try it out today on JMRI and see if that can pick up any problem.

On30 / 2-6-6-2 Problem
January 29, 2016, 04:41:45 AM
My 2-6-6-2 died last night. After I ran it fine yesterday I packed it back in it's box then today getting it out I found that it just sits on the track. no sound, no movement.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do and is this typical of this loco.
My 2-4-4-2 runs like a charm!

On30 / Problem with 2-6-6-2
November 15, 2015, 07:06:40 PM
My 2-6-6-2 is having trouble with the transferring power from the tender to the loco. When I put it on the track it makes a chuff sound but all other functions do not respond.
I have noticed that the large plug from the tender that plugs into the loco at the rear is a loose fit so could this be the problem. I have run the loco about twice on previous occasions and all was well.
Can someone help me please or should I return it to Bachmann for repair.
Thanks

On30 / On30 Rail Truck
October 04, 2010, 05:51:14 AM
I am really cheesed off as I am now on my 5th Rail Truck that I have purchased through various suppliers in both the U.S. and Australia. The main fault seems to be the slipping of or not properly meshing of the gears.
Sure I can and have sent these back to the suppliers but why should we have to. The inconvenience and cost of sending models back to the U.S. every time you buy them is getting out of hand. Bachmann should fix this problem asap. I have 7 other Spectrum locos and they are all great runners but this Rail Truck is really letting the team down .

On30 / Re: 8 pin socket
August 29, 2010, 05:24:08 AM
NM,
No, the axle is the correct way around but I think I figured it out. The bevel gear on the drive shaft is not moving when the drive shaft rotates. It looks like I will have to find some sort of adhesive that will fix it to the shaft but being a delrin type of material this won't easy.

NM,
Thanks for your suggestion. It worked well, the only problem I have now is upon reassembly of the the drive system following a kit bash I can't get the Rail Truck to move. The drive shaft and the gear on the end of the drive shaft rotate nicely but when the diff cover is screwed back on the gears do not seem to mesh.  I have checked the gears out and they don't have any teeth missing or worn and they appear to mesh ok till I screw down the cover. I have tried different tension on the screws but to no avail. anyone have any suggestions

N / DCC Ready Tenders
July 19, 2008, 12:50:52 AM
What is meant by DCC Ready Tenders? The way I read it is that by using these tenders and wiring a decoder into them you can convert any suitable Bachmann loco to DCC such as 2-6-6-2, 0-6-0- Switcher, 2-8-0 Connie or
4-8-2 Light Mountain or am I misreading the info

I am expecting one of these locos shortly and was hoping someone can recommend the best decoder to use. My current thoughts are the Tsunami mini and the Locsound.

N / Re: Nscale SD45 Spectrum

Success at last! After much grunting and holding my tongue out of the corner of my mouth the shell finally came free. Yes it was the screws holding the couplers in
Thanks all

Thanks Guys but the fuel tank cover is only clipped on and there are not any screws underneath.
I have already removed the body mount couplers but the body is still as tight as...
I do have a copy of the conversion article from Feburary by"r0bert" who shows the conversion but not the shell removal.
Thanks anyway I keep trying
