Title: Minmum radius
Post by: widget on September 24, 2010, 03:53:24 PM
Hi!! I am a newby, and this probably is covered somewhere else. But if not, can anyone tell me the minmum recommended radii for things like the 0-40's, 0-4-0T, Shay, 4-4-0 American. I have a very small layout, 15" rad. at each end...but a few kinks that are tighter. I don't want to by a new 4-4-0, and then find it can't negotiate the layout!! If posted here somewhere, please post me the link!
Thanks, Dave
The cars I can modify...not sure about more play in the locos, though.....

Here's a link to recommended and minimum curve radii for a number of On30 locomotives. It's updated fairly regularly.

I am also new to On30 and posted a similar question back in late July or August.  I ended up convinced that a minimum radius of about 22-24" would be a good starting point.  I designed my small layout, which will begin construction soon, around 24" radius curves.

Widget, my original post was on August 3, title something like Need Advice Planning First Layout.  Also has a lot of good information on lengths and track spacing if you read the thread of posts.
