Title: bachmann GP40 CVs
Post by: BillF on November 08, 2009, 09:37:39 AM
I recently purchased a Bachmann GP40 engine. It works fine on DCC but I wanted to change the speed CVs. I changed CVs 2,6 and 5 as I do with other engines. The CVs change (I checked the new numbers on the on the programing track) but the engine does not change in performance. I tried all sorts of combinations. Finally set them all at 250, still runs as it came out of the box. The engine does not come with a list of its CV assignments but I assume it conforms with these three CVs. Does anyone have a solution to my problem.

I am using a NCE control system

Your engine most likely has the basic Bachmann decoder onboard.  This decoder doesn't appear to support speed tables.  The CV listing is here:

If performance is important to you ( as it is to most of us ) you might consider replacing the Bachmann decoder with an NCE...
