Thomas & Friends / Re: Narrow Gauge Modeling Thread

Wow! Very impressed by how both Grandpuff and Terrence's models and layouts are coming along! Terrence, you're narrow gauge extension of your layout looks awesome! I'm really liking the bridge and mountain road a lot! Hopefully I can include them on my layout one day! Grandpuff, MightyMac is coming along really well too! The paintwork is spot on! What techniques did you use for the lining?
Also, just a little update on my Rheneas. I contacted Bachman before Christmas and they said they didn't have any models on hand so they suggested I contact the retailer. So, I contacted TrainWorld and I had awesome customer service from them! I submitted a request for a replacement model, shipped the damaged one back, and received my replacement the week before Christmas! Finally had a chance to run him in last Thursday and he really is an amazing little model!i'm really loving this range a lot! Really looking forward to Rusty and the new announcements this year!

Oh dear!  :( I thought it was just mine! Sorry to hear about your models guys. I'm not even mad about the issue. I'm just happy Rheneas is out and that I'll hopefully be able to get a new one. I think this issue is happening because a.) Bachmann wanted to make sure they had enough on hand to meet demand and didn't want to run out like with Skarloey. and b.) The plastic might be thinner in that area for some reason. there's a screw underneath that attaches the footplate to the coal bunkers so maybe it might be the tightness of the screw is causing it? Maybe the increase in production to meet the deadline to ship cause this as well? I dunno! But I'm actually really happy that he's now available! I'm really loving the narrow gauge line and maybe some day we'll see Bachmann do a regular line of American HOn3 models?  :)

Thanks for your help Chaz! I've had pretty good luck with new stuff. In the 15 years I've been in the hobby, there's only been probably 3 times I had to get a replacement of a new product.

So this one is actually for either the Bach-man or InsideTrack...
I just received my Rheneas in the mail from Trainworld and upon opening the box, I noticed the whistle was missing, the running board by the cab was warped a little which then made the cab not sit right on the loco. Should I return it to Bachmann or should I return it to Trainworld? I never encounter new models with issues so I'm unsure what is the best way to return it. Also, if I send it back to you, should I supply a filling in warranty card?

Pre-ordered Rheneas months ago from Trainworld and I finally got a call today too saying he is now available and is being prepared to ship out!  :D

I'm sensing this topic has hit some rough seas.

Ok in all fairness, it actually does look real. its some really good photoshop. It is pretty mean though. I'm starting to hate when the fanbase does stuff like this...like the wooden railway prank from a few weeks ago. this just makes people untrustworthy.

Been trying to redo the layout for a while now. finally settled on a Awdry-esque layout with models resembling their real life counterpart and locations from the RWS. I'll be using some 3D printed stuff from SCC and various shops on Shapeways, as well as a majority of my current Bachmann products (buildings, accessories, etc.). I'll be including Tidmouth station, Tidmouth Sheds, Tidmouth Harbor, and Crovens Gate station. Hopefully I'll have enough room to include everything i want to! Do to lack of funds, modeling has been put on hold for a little while! LOL! Will keep you guys updated!

Sure! I'll try to get some pictures as soon as I can!

So I finally got the new slate wagons! They came last week and boy they are a lot smaller than I thought! They seemed smaller in person than in recent pictures with Skarloey and Rheneas! But for their size, they have pretty good detail on them! I really like that they came with loads too! I'll defiantly have to get more!! I haven't had time to run them with Skarloey yet but I will soon! Hopefully tomorrow!!

Heard through the grapevine on a model railway message board, I forget which one, that Bachman does a full scan of the Talyllyn Railway locos, and possibly rolling stock hence why the slate truck looks the way it does, for the Skarloey Railway product line. This explains why Skarloey and Rehneas have more detail than the actual characters do. Rusty might be an exception though. Since TVS Rusty has quite a few differences than Midlander, it could go either way. They might design the whole thing from scratch to make him look just like the TVS one or they might do a scan of Midlander and put a Rusty face on it. I could also see Bachmann doing and altered version like the one Chaz posted though which would be a mix of practically every version of Rusty. Still looking forward to the model either way!

Thomas & Friends / Re: OLIVER HAS ARRIVED!
March 29, 2017, 10:25:58 PM
Well once a product arrives in their warehouse, they try to ship it out as quick as they can. plus this also depends on how often your dealer purchases product from Bachmann. They probably didn't order Oliver right away. Your dealer probably waited until there was a low amount of Bachmann stock to place an order for some more products. Oliver's probably on their next order, and, depending on what state you live in, it might take a while for your dealer to get whatever they ordered, in stock. Everyone will be able to get their model soon.

*waits for comments about Rheneas*

Yeah didn't even get a close up shot so this is useless.

oh I know! I'm just waiting to see all the "Why couldn't they get a closer picture?!" comments!
