Williams by Bachmann / Blue Comet
June 26, 2012, 11:36:05 PM
I need some information

While in Florida last weekend, a friend took me to an incredible

all-train hobby shop. I found a 4-passenger car Williams Blue Comet

set no engine just the 4 cars. There was also a 2-car set. There was only one

and the owner said it was the only one he had. I had him put it aside and

let him know if I find a locomotive I'll purchase those 2 sets. Well does Williams

Bachmann make an engine in O-Gauge for the Blue Comet because I can't seem to

find one.

Anyone have some info to help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just recently received a order for Williams and Bachmann

Last night my son and i opened up the GG1.

Williams does a First Class job on packaging. The Engine
is a sight to behold.

We hooked it up to a Pennsy and a NYC caboose and ran

her round the track to break her in.

Everything went fine. The engine is very impressive on the layout.

My only question or suggestion would be. The headlight on Williams engines don't

appear to be very bright. Anyone have any ideas, thoughts or suggestions on

improving the brightness of the headlight?

Also on the F-3's I saw on U-Tube someone had installed Wig-Wag. Are their kits for that? Also I am not sure if F-3's had Wig-Wag. While my kids and I were train watching over last weekend that Wig-Wag is impressive.

Thanks

Yesterday I took my son to the "I Love Toy Trains" Store in  New Buffalo Michigan
just above the Indiana border.  It is now under new ownership from someone who
made layouts for the I Love Toy Train People. Wow has he done a great job rehabing
that store. He has a lot more products and he plans to have a few layouts and give classes on constructing
your own layout.

I had a great day.  I had been wondering if Williams had or would make a tender in O-Gauge for the Semi-scale Hudson engine
they produced back in 1950 or 1951. The tender I have has the old trainsound whistle from that era and doesn't work that well. Plus I wanted something other than a lionel Lines. Well I found a Williams new in the box S-2 Tender with a
New York Central name on its side. When I got it home as well as some other Williams rolling stock, I was really
impressed how it was packaged. Both my son and I were Wow'd by how really nice that tender looked!!!! It matches up
really nice with our "Old" Hudson and the new trainsounds are impressive!!!

Just wanted to say Thanks Williams/Bachmann. I have been buying the F-3's, got a GG-1 and am now looking to pick up
a couple NW-2 Switchers and a Berkshire Locomotive !!! I would love to see them produce an Atlantic Steam Locomotive. ::) ::)

Plasticville U.S.A. / Miixing O-Gauge and HO
March 11, 2012, 02:44:10 PM
On our layout we have both O-Gauge and HO.

It seems to be a nice workable mix. Sometimes the O-Scale even though to scale are
just "BIG". So we have mixed in the 2 it appears to work well. We have received nice
feed back about it. We are not sticklers for accuracy to scale and my kids don't seem to mind.
We use N-Scale someone was discarding for our Amusement Park, "Kiddie-Land Train".

Just having some fun until they get older and want more scale realism!!!

Williams by Bachmann / F-3 Santa Fe Black/Silver

A strange problem has developed with this engine.

When it is first turned on after sitting idle all night., the sound system works. Afterwards not at all.
Even after I turn it off and let it sit off track for awhile.

Does anyone have any ideas or should I send it back along with the other engine Bachmann asked me to return???????

Have been reading up on the Pere Marquette Line which used to run
in our area.
Has Williams considered doing a Berkshire  in P. M. ????

Williams by Bachmann / Lubricants
February 20, 2012, 07:37:34 PM
Since pulling out my Dad's collection in storage for the last 25 years. I found a mold growing on the rolling stock, boxes, and even the 4-6-4 Hudson. There was also a "whitish corrosion on the metal parts.

I went to work to remove the mold by using a moist very soft tooth brush and paint brush with a slight amount of Dawn Dish washing liquid. It cut through the mold nicely!!
I dried everything off best I could even using Q-tips for the hard to reach spots.
To lubricate the metal parts and remove corrosion I used a product I have been using for years to clean up old military surplus rifles. It's called "Break Free".
I have found this to be an outstanding product. I have brought back to life many an old rifle, I also use it on my bicycle chain, gear shifting mechanisms, etc with great success. When I ride my bike it is nearly quiet. So I took a chance and used it to clean and lubricate my Dad's 1951 Hudson train set and rolling stock he collected over the years. The corrosion and remainder of the mold came off. It seemed to nourish the plastic and die-csat metal of the Engine. After 3 or 4 applications and cleanings it left a nice sheen to the metal and plastic and wheel assemblies. I ran the engine a few times cleaned the gears with the Break free a few times and lubed the gears with Break-Free Collectors oil. That '51 Hudson ran really well almost quite. When I hooked up 5 of those K-Line die-cast metal heavy Hopper cars it pulled those and a caboose with no problem!!!!!!! The Plastic on the boxcars, hoppers, tank cars and cabooses look really nice now!
Has anyone had similar experiences or what is your program for dealing with trains in long term storage.
Keep in mind this stuff was kept in a basement of an old house built in 1859 in the Chicagoland area, the basement had flooded a couple times, windows kept open in the Summer months.

Williams by Bachmann / Southern Pacific GS-4Locomotive

Please Help

I recently purchased the Southern Pacific GS-4. It's a beautiful engine!!!!
My son and I followed the directions. Set it on the track . It went around a couple times and stopped dead. Everything is plugged in properly. It has no life at all. The light in front works and the sound system works but it stays dead on the track. My son and I
don't know what to do. It is a brand new engine. What can we do?????????
