Title: Big Hauler G scale motor max amps
Post by: Jcomerford on October 10, 2023, 09:14:25 PM
I have a Big Hauler G scale train "Casey Jones" model for which I do not know the exact year. I have installed a railpro module in it and battery setup. It is operating fine but the railpro is asking the maximum amps for the motor. Does anyone know what that might be? The Software is set by default at 1,000 mA and it works but would like to have setting for the motor to input if possible.
Thank you

Maximum is actually vague:

full stall rotor locked
full stall wheel slipping
heavy load on rails
light load on rails
load on rollers.

I'd set it to 2 amps (2,000 ma)

Hi j,

Seems a little low to me, but if it ain't broke don't fix it is my recommendation.  The original controller for that locomotive was rated at  1 AMP. If you railroad is relatively flat and you don't add too many cars to the consist it should be fine.  If you have steep grades those older 1 amp controllers would overheat and blow the thermal circuit breaker.
