Title: Steam Locomotive Smoke
Post by: Cody J on May 11, 2008, 04:26:01 PM
Now I know most steam locomotives have smoke but do you need to replace the smoke like add new smoke?  I need to know before I buy a steamer.

Actually, most don't, and yes, you need to buy fluid for the smoke generator, but this adds an oily residue all over the layout. If you want smoke wait until Rapido Trains releases their smoke fluid.

OK Thanks!  Do you know when the fluid by Rapido will be coming out?

Most model smoke is totally unrealistic.  A good fireman handled his fire so that there was little smoke.  The great belches of smoke seen in so many pictures of steam locomotives come from the fireman "smokin' it up" for the photographer.
I'd have to hear a whole lot more about the Rapido to even thinking about it.
