Has anybody any idea where I might buy a power pack with sounds for my ON -30 layout?.
It does not even have to have Diesel sounds as all my locomotives are steam, and I would even buy a used one if I could find one.
Thanks

Bill,
A number of years ago, less than 5 years, MRC offered a sound transformer that had both steam and diesel sounds. I cannot remember what the transformer was called, for some reason, MRC 6200 comes to mind. Anyway, it is not offered new anymore so you would have to find a used one. It came with a speaker that you had to put info some sort of baffle box but there was no soldering involved.
I've used this one until I can get all my DCC installed http://www.modelrec.com/search/product-view.asp?ID=7614 (http://www.modelrec.com/search/product-view.asp?ID=7614)
It's OK but nothing like sound in each loco.
Look for the MRC 1025 Sound for Steam and Diesel. I purchesed one about 2 months ago for less than $50.00 off the internet. Nice system and works very well.

There is/was an MRC 1440, a Tech II with steam whistle and diesel horn. There is one shown at:

It is about the fifth item down.
There is also one up for bids on eBay but there is only 12 hours left in the auction. It can be seen at:

I have one of these built into a pint sized 4-4-0 that has been in half a dozen parades. When you pull the whistle cord, it operates a dummy whistle and triggers the MRC 1440. I have had people swear that the dummy whistle was real and that was where the sound was coming from.
