Post by: kh25 on June 04, 2016, 09:33:06 PM
With the dcc ez command am I able to run 2 dcc engines separetly like have one switching the other idling
And do I need block wiring like in dc? I'm building an ho scale 1x5 shelf layout.

Yes, you can run multiple engines at the same time with E-Z Command.

Block wiring is only required if you have a reversing loop.

while not technically necessary for dcc, given your choice to use the ez command and its limited current capability I would recommend using some form of block control on your sidings. you will want to have the ability to park locomotives and cut power to them to lessen current draw on your system. even if it is not moving, a dcc equipped locomotive will still draw power from a live track. the ez command does not have a lot of power to spare, particularly if you want to use sound equipped locomotives.
