General Discussion / DCC Steam w/Sound
October 22, 2007, 04:45:25 PM
 Mr. Bachmann
I have decided to purchase a Spectrum DCC with sound on board Steam Engine this week.
My question is the smallest radius on my layout is 18 inches or 36inch circle and I want one of the larger engines (not a Shay or or Baldwin)
which engine will have the easiest time with this radius out of the ones in the Spectrum Line,

As Always Thank You in advace

HO / Re: Spacing Question
October 20, 2007, 01:07:48 AM
Thanks for the info on double stacks I set up my tunnels today in foam, they are a total of 7 inches wide and 4 inches high, the curved double track that goes thru them are approx a 24 inch radius, to me this looks like it should be plenty of clearance
My next concern is the woodland scenics Tunnel Portals does any one know the size of the double

HO / Re: Spacing Question
October 18, 2007, 10:21:15 PM
Sorry to seam ignorant I am not familar with the term double stacks, I am new to the hobby and have so much to learn
My preferance is and always will be the diesels but since bachmann only produces steam locos with sound I might have to change my plan and run 1 steam and 1 diesel , As I said before I have a double mainline and there is a section of track where both tracks run side by side thru a tunnel fo about 5 or 6 feet
As always Thanks for the help and sorry about my spelling it seams as the older i get evan the simple words I dont remember how to spell, Bare with me I am sure you can figure it out.

HO / Spacing Question
October 18, 2007, 11:22:51 AM
I am building my first ho layout and have a couple of guestions regarding the spacing between tracks,

1.  My layout consist of a doulble mainline running side by side and need to  know a comfortable space between the tracks for the curve sections of the layout for passing engines and rolling stock dont hit each other  (Iam using code 100 flex track)

2. Second I would like to know the inside height of the Tunnels I will be buiding,( will be made out of 2 inch stacked foam) I see woodland Scenics sells Risers that end at 4 inches

As always Thank You in advance You Guys in the forum have been a great help

Thanks To all
As this being the first ho layout I am building i know i will have many questions, It amazes me the differance between O Gauge and Ho, I would have never thought cutting the size down from o to ho would have created as many problems as it has, I really think with all the help you great guys have been so far I can bypass at least a few mistakes and disapoitments along the way.  :)

Thanks again and if I become a newsence just tell me to shut up and I will back off

  Thanks Sheldon & Kevin
I will have to be much more carefull about things in the future with HO as back a few years ago I built a layout using MTH  O Gauge and just never thought the quality of the differant gauges would be this much. Then when I saw HO had moved into the dcc w/sound items I thought I would try a HO layout since I dont have the room for another O gauge layout.
SO like I said before any help or advise would be greatly appreciated to give you just a little more info on what I am building is a layout that is 4 feet by 10 Feet plus a 4 foot by 6 foot L of the bottom of it, I was planning on useing the Bachmann DIGITAL set up and as sson as Bachmann starts producing dcc diesels with sound adding them to the layout So Far I havent seen to much availible in Diesels by Bachmann

General Discussion / Lost on Rolling Stock
October 10, 2007, 01:45:19 PM
Hope someone can help with some good advise on rolling stock
My Problem is I have purchased  two bachmann train sets and several items from ebay and all seem to be very cheap or toy like The bachmann sets purchased where the dcc comander set and the mckinley explorer set
the couplers on the mckinley set are just plain junk and dont work at all plus the cars dont have any weight to them whats so ever, The cars purchased from ebay have knuckle couples that brake and plastic wheels that keep falling off Can Someone Please Help with what kind of rolling stock works well and what kind of couplers are good
