greetings bachmann,
i'm steve from the philippines. i have an HO superchief. i'm planning to place my train set under our christmas tree, but the cars keep on derailing possibly due to it is too lite. sir what can i do to prevent it from leaping off the rail? can i open it and put weights?
thankyou
steve(toti)
OK, I'll take a shot.
Put the track on plywood, high pyle carpet is too unstable.
Check the rails and make sure they are connected properly, run your finger over the top of the rail to make sure it is smooth at the joint, if not it is not in the connector properly.
Try running at a lower speed.
Need more info...what's the radius of your curves?
I added a comment on the general discussion board.
To amplify what Rangerover wrote, run your finger over the rail joints BOTH WAYS. You may miss the drop down, but the climb up will be felt.
OTOH, most cars are too light by NMRA standards when bought.

Dear Steve,
Gene is correct- it's more likely a track issue. Let us know how you make out.
Have fun!
