Title: G scale turnouts HELP
Post by: Penn_senseless on March 18, 2010, 05:22:53 PM
Went out to check on my layout after this rough winter, and all the throws on my aristo craft switches are shot, with the internal springs all rusted to pieces.

Anyone know of a company that makes good replacement throws for these, something like caboose industries does in smaller scales by chance? Id rather not buy all new turnouts. A turnout is useless without a throw that applies good tension.

Hopefully someone out there has some recommendations or has been through this.

How about rebuilding them with stainless springs and harware. there are also other materials springs are made from  places Like www.grainger.com and www.mcmastercarr.com may have what you would need.

Why don't you contact Aristo.  I solved my problems with the Aristo wide radius switches by replacing them with LGB 18000 series switches.

Seriously though, you can set up external springs to control the switches.  It may not be attractive, but it will work.

It was my understanding that AC is getting a new style switch machine mid March. Please let me know if I'm wrong, I have 8 to replace.
