Title: Old Time Passenger Cars
Post by: Old John on June 28, 2012, 04:00:30 PM
Has anyone ever taken apart the circa 1860's Bachmann passenger cars. I went to a train swap sale and a fellow was selling interior configuration kits for passenger cars, so I bought several. Now I'm concerned that I make break them taking them apart - any suggestions.

Dear John,
The floor simply snaps off the car body. Turn the car over and press the tabs with a screwdriver.
Have fun!

Thank You, I'll give it a try, I wasn't sure that it may have been "tacked" glued or not, and I didn't want to break something _ Thank You Again!

Looking at a couple I own, my suggestion would be to first remove both trucks (each fastened to the car bottom by a single small phillips screw).  That will allow you room to carefully press the snap tab on the bottom of each end between the truck and steps.  A small slot screwdriver should work fine.  These Old Time Passenger cars are sturdy, but plastic, so work slowly.  Adding seats would be a nice touch to a nice model.
