Hi Jbrock27!
I am not good at all at wood work.
Bill

You'd be surprised at how fast you learn when you start building your table.  You can find videos on the web and, if you have a local train shop and club, someone will be willing to help by pointing you to books, looking at their table, or even helping you build one.

How much area are you planning to work with? I'm sure you already know, but if you have a table against a wall, it can be hard to reach into corners.

You beat me to it Yardmaster :D 20" wide? No. But 26" would work with that track.

Too bad, I really enjoyed reading the magazine. Some good articles in there for beginners and a refresher for older modellers.

I agree. I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you  , shortly after I sent this message , I inadvertently held one of the short sections of track supplied with the turnouts up to some light and found the cutout markings..
Stupid me...

Joe, Thanks for help with my "continuing education."

Spencer, I send you a PM

Hunt, good suggestion.  My local hobby shop, and I'm guessing most will, gives me a 15% discount on MSRP.

Joe,

What? Did I make the pics too small? ??? No comment on the facing point spur? :D

I know that I still have a S curve, but I left it because JDD stated that he already glued the riser to the table. I would take it out otherwise.

HO / Variations on a lay-out design

Joe, These are some more that I came up with as variations to JDD's design. I think I even got your opposing side in. ;)

Joe,

While I've enjoyed playing with this lay-out, it is JDD's and he has a vision of what he wants it to be. I think it started with a lay-out Jward did for him, then he made some changes to come up with his design, then we've made some suggestions.

I'll keep playing with some ideas, but I think I'll start a new post to display them as not to highjack his post.

Hi Spencer,

Good thing Anyrail can be switched over to metric. Are you dead set on a table top, or would you be willing or able to look at a donut set up? Morgun 30

Possible options?

OOPS, Looks like I created an S in the lower yard, didn't I? :-\
I guess you could spend more money and go with this.

OK, Morgun, step away from the computer.......

JDD, I think Don is talking about the yard on the inner main on the North side of the lay-out. And I think Jward is talking about the side on the outer main.  Then again, I could be completely wrong.

Your table is 5' X 9', right?

Don, The lay-outs aren't something I'm working on for myself. The ones from the 4th were ones I drew up to help Show33 with ideas for his lay-out and the two from the 7th were to help give Brooklynzoo ideas for his lay-out. The first was the closest I could come to replicating the one Hunt posted. The second was to show him , as Joe stated, how much more you could add by adding a little extra width to the table. In this case it was only three inches.

Joe, good catch on moving the crossover.
