General Discussion / Re: legacy
July 28, 2009, 06:04:32 PM
The system you are talking about is O scale right? Made by Lionel. Yes you can control the sounds from a standard power pack like what comes in a train set as long as it has horn and bell buttens. However for around $250 you can get the Legacy control system which has way more fetures, if you ask me it's well worth the price, however if you use it with locomotives that don't have TMCC or Legacy you have to buy a seperate converter box. Hope this helps!
And yes the sound is totally worth it.

HO / Spectrum 0-6-0 DCC
July 27, 2009, 11:30:05 PM
I've had a Spectrum 0-6-0 for years now, it's a great little locomotive, however it's from the first run and not DCC ready. I'm really excited that Bachmann decided to do another run of them, and I'm planning on buying myself one in the near future, http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/products.php?act=viewProd&productId=3184 .
Next to the locomotive it has the DCC equiped symbol, and I recall the announcement saying the same thing, however in the list of fetures both online and in the new catalog it states that the locomotive is DCC ready...
Which one is it?
Thanks

this seems to be popular....Bl-2, This is a very strange locomotive but is a beauty, and a slug or calf!
their, you will make a lot of switching fans(like myself) extremely happy! The Bl-2, like many models, is a classic that is not around anymore for Ho scale. make a come back for those beautiful diesels!

I would imagine you know, but Life Like Proto 2000 did these back in the 80s. Great little runners, not the best detail but still nice. If you want to buy one in B&M send me a email, it dosen't fit the prototype any more. friscoryan1522@hotmail.com

Well, I think BLI is making RF-16s, but Bachmann's are more affordable.
They're still on the announcement list, but I have the feeling the Bachmann ones comming out sealed the fate of those ever being made.

What will the UP one have on the side of the cab? Just the number, or route of the streamliners? Can't wait for these to come  ;D!

Hi there. This would probally be better in the HO scale section. Anyways, Bachmann isn't doing anything. However Northwest Short Line, http://www.nwsl.com/
is working on reaplacement gears, I believe they should be out within the next couple of months. Hope this helps,

I have a old AMH one, a little noisey, but other then that a great little runner, I've put 12 cars behind it on a 1% grade, and it took them right up, it'll go pretty slow. I've taken it through trackwork that even tender equiped engines have a tough ime on, and it plowed right on through. And best off they can be picked up for very reasonable prices.

Well, I'm not a Maine 2 footer, but I have to say this is the fist Bachmann ON30 product that's gotten me excited for quite a while, not Colorado, but what a nice looking model. I'm sure I'll find a place for a couple.

I'm desprite for somebody to produce an affordable ES44ac. Sofar T55 was the only producer of them but with them gone the GEVOs aren't being produced anymore.
Athearn got the Tower 55 tooling, they're upgrading all their locomotives, and they should be re introduced by 2010.

It's a great looking locomotive! About 700 miles to far east for me, but I may end up getting one any-way, after all you can never have to many good lookin' locomotives! ;D

It wil run on DC just fine. It will take 22" curves, although there is some serious overhang.

On30 / Re: new caboose
July 11, 2009, 02:17:13 PM
I like the new caboose, and I'll probally get a couple of them. I would have liked it to be a Rio Grande long caboose, but Bachmann seems to hold a grudge against anything that ran in Colorado. As for the 2-6-6-2 all I can say is, is what animal puked that thing up, why didn't you guys do a scaled down version of the large scale one? It might not be Colorado, but there is NO Denying that it's a VERRY nice looking locomotive. Oh well, maby MMI could be convenced to do a plastic line, as it's looking like that's my only hope at getting anything from the western US.....
