my only real problem with this engine is its missing the rubber tires ..otherwise it runs
it just can't pull any cars with out thoes rubber tiires .....  that why i wanted to find a powere chassie
so i could mount the top of this battery-operated enging witch is in great shape to one of the new powered chassies

well thanks again LOCO BILL CANELOS ..you know a lot about bachmanns  g scale trains ..they should hire you :)

bachmanns parts department doesn't have a clue ... sorry people :(

my engine is a green with red roof and window trim and has grey boiler with silver front and black and silver chassis
SANTA FE battery operated engine ... i don't have any catalog numbers nor can i say how old
it is ..nor what version it is ..it still runs but its missing the rubber tires ..so it can't pull any amount of cars  mostly
it only pulls one pass car or 2 freight cars only ..then spins its wheels ..its 27 MHz and number is only partial train# 90-0
then the rest of the sticker is torn off ...

hi Barry .... here's my email ......  edonianx@msn.com  we should talk  8)

thank you guys for all your help   !!!

i bought both these engines from LANTZ TRAIN SHOP  (WHOLESALE TRAINS)
the balwin 2-4-2 steam loco is the one with no sound i talked about ...
and the other#9159  2-6-0 baldwin mogul engine has a tender that shorts out the engine and my track sound dosen't work
when i keep the tender un plug from the engine ....the engine runs fine only when i hook up both plugs into the engine it shorts out... this engine came with no owners manual too....

i did not buy these engines from EBAY.....

hello ..i just bought this engine ..and found it lacking any power.. and its too light weight... i hooked it up to 2 aristocraft flat cars , 1 USA crane tender car, 1 USA crane car ending with a bachmann bobber caboose... and this engine can barely pull these cars on a flat surface test track i have set up...   it mostly spins its wheels trying to pull the cars unless you give it a push... once it gets going ..it does run smooth.. and quiet...  in my box i got all the parts i think comes with it but i can't be shure cause theres no paper work on what features this engine has no nothing about the switches for smoke nor for direction (PS i know where the swiches are) ..nor is there a warranty card... there is a diagram showing all parts ...and to change couplers...which i had to do so it would fit my other cars... now as to the insides of the engine ...very neatly put together ..but ... it has a speaker ...but no sound,, no place for sound... no switch for sound...no CHUFF SOUND ......no information on this engine on bachmanns web site ....
sorry but very pitiful ..it just like the last engine i got from bachmann.
the bachmann  2-6-0  under weight... no pulling power ...and now my tender shorts out everything when i hook it up and the chuff doesn't work at all.....

General Discussion / catalogs and dvds
February 07, 2011, 05:28:22 PM
the bachmann dvd is great ...but it lacks more info on the trains like track size and other products to go with it .(a small sample of your catalogs items for each scale would be great (a dvd catalog version).included in each train set) .. and MOST IMPORTANT is you need to add a FEATURE to your DVDs ( PLAY ALL ) for each scales set of chapters so you can play all the chapters one right after the other ..without having too doo it manualy  chapter by chapter...(but don't doo away with the viewing of each chapter by itself...) thats still a good thing...(reason why ?? ....i was playing the Bachmann dvd for some small children and i kept having to come back and
click on the next chapter ..every time ...ever 5 miniutes or so...  its a pain...)mostly ended up standing there waiting to switch to the next chapter each time

now about your catalog ... i sent in my $10 check for your catalog ...what i got in the mail was just a letter and what was left of the paper envelope the brochure?? or a verry small catalog  must have been put in it. ..and by the size it must have been too heavy and ripped thru the envelope ...some one tryed to tape it up  but it never got thru....  i have tryed to down load the catalog on line but my wireless service is too slow to get such a beg catalog... i only end up with the first half ...then the rest is just blank pages ...what you need is a digital catalg ..on dvd that we your customers can buy from you ..i know that i love getting catalogs ..i sometimes spend hours pooring over catalogs ..dreaming of what i would doo if i had all of these products here..
well bye for now

....ok....NOW can anyone here me   HOW DO YOU POST PICTURES
HERE  ..... ??? ??? :o :-[  add BBC tags ???  all my computer says is
that (document forms postmodify message) no other explenation is given

HI BILL i thought about taking off the cowcatcher ...but it makes my steam locos look too naked without it .... i just put on a new cow catcher on one of my 4-6-0s  i tryed to get a new one from the parts dept ..but they don't have any of the parts i want for my engine... so i bought a bachmann K27 cow catcher and put that on my 4-6-0 instead of the original one ...it looks a lot better now... the few parts i did foolishly buy from bachmann cost me over $59 and its just not worth it ...i am just going to have to make my own parts from now on..
well bye for now,

Large / Re: cleaning track
January 31, 2011, 01:55:28 PM
hello .. i have Aristocraft track euro style only.... and i have LGB too ......i only clean the very top of each rail and the inside section ....i also use jumper wires between each track by using the track screws that hold on the ties to the rails ....also you can soder jumper wires to the rails to help with keep power to each track... (sorry :-[ bachmann but i never use your track for any permanent railroad layout... i only use it for test tacks or display track...) only the large scale bachmann track is really not the best ... all your other scales track ...have always been good ... now there even better... i buy bachmann for the trains ... and i buy train sets for the cars ...because its cheaper that way.... ;D
well bye for now .

HELLO BILL ..thanks for answering me... all the train sets are brand new bought them from train world
i wish that the bachmann train diagram had the parts listed with there proper names ..then i could
speak more clearly...

as for the davenports ..i replace all couplers with bachmanns standard ones and they now perform much better

the only problem i have found is in the height of the coupler on the cow catchers of the big haulers ... i am currently
modifying ...these so they can operate properly...

how do i post pictures here ???
well bye for now .......

Large / big haulers train sets
January 27, 2011, 09:48:52 PM
HI i am new to this message board ...but not to Bachmann.. trains ..been buying them for 40 years now.
i just recently bought 7 big haulers train sets (see list below) ... and there seems to be some parts are missing on some engines
and on others there there ...on the left side theres a large value type thing G813X0AX01 and theres a smaller tube like part that is on the middle section ..thats attached in the curved out section that faces the engines side ???
also some engines come with side rod frames with cross pieces and others don't have the cross pieces why??

WHY??
also out of all these train sets i bought only one came with a figure the tweetsie RR  that was verry disapointing
i know in the past some sets came with figures like the emmit kelly circus set ...
and whats up with the new couplers on the davenports there different ... not much staying power ...keeps uncoupling from both ends... on both davenport engines that i bought .....i will have to try the metal ones and see if there any better...
