Title: call from bachmann services...
Post by: jettrainfan on June 24, 2010, 01:37:17 PM
Well, my mom said that the bachmann service called saying to call jenny on Monday about the 0-6-0 I sent in. Does anyone know what could be the reason for this?

PICK ME PICK ME!!!!!

they might want to ask you some questions about what the problem was and or how u want them to fix it or it was out of warranty and u have to pay to get it fixed that's my guess

It also could be out of production/stock and you would need to tell them what DC 0-6-0 you want instead.

they called me and said your engine was a total loss and your out of luck...just kidding , they probably want you to pick a different road name as the one you sent in is out of stock/production and they are gonna replace it free...at least that's what happened when I sent in my wrecked 2-8-0

Thanks for all the info! Well, At least when i got the engine their were 2 other popular roads i wanted so that shouldn't be a lost. Sense that little gear piece popped out, and a little bit of that fake snow stuff still in the pistons, i would think it was a total lost too. even if they had the piece, it would be a pain to put back in.

You'd be surprised, they have repaired a good number of my locos and locos of people down at my local club. Strangely, everyone thinks they just automatically get their loco replaced.

As long as it runs better than life-like's dockside switcher, I'm a happy guy!

Of course that decision will be based on economics When I sent my 2-6-2 Prairie in for repair last year they just replaced it.  So that means either its not repairable or I suspect given that this was a low end loco not worth the cost of finding out.

On the other hand a $300 Spectrum probably is a different story.

My Union Pacific 0-6-0 w/ tender, which was $20, was repaired and not replaced, you guys must be killing/destroying your locos somehow. My 4-8-4 J class was replaced though, it had a short somewhere.

It wouldn't surprise me if they replace a loco that would take awhile to fix, then end up refurbishing locos as they have time and sending those out on those as replacements on later calls.

Sorry for both double pasteing and bringing this up again, But i finally was able to call and with my luck, the engine needed replacing and they didn't have the GN unit. So i decided to just say a black steamer (hey, if its truly black, then i could number it L&W #14 or something!  ;D ) either way, I'm happy that im getting a brand new steamer, and the old tender will probably be a weed killer. Thanks bachmann!
