I got mine (in the UK) back in the middle of December, and had to give it to my wife so she could send it off to Santa for his Christmas Eve delivery!

It's a superb unit, well-worth waiting for! The hand-held bit is perhaps six inches across and about an inch think, and very light - think of a simple games console and you're there. It comes with a lanyard so you can hang it round your neck - that way you won't drop it!

All in all, a real winner!   ;D

HO / Taking off the doodlebug body

Is there some trick I'm missing to taking off the body of the Doodlebug? There are clearly clips on the side, but the floor is still reluctant to come loose, so I'm guessing there's some other fastening that I don't know about.

And I don't want to break anything....    :(

Thanks, folks. I suspected it would be an easy one, but didn't want to blow a decoder finding out I was wrong!

HO / Adding DCC to a Proto 2k 0-8-0

Can anyone give a newbie some tips for adding a decoder to a P2k 0-8-0 please?

All the wires are carried to the tender via a plug-and-socket, but once in the tender there's an array of electronic parts (diodes mainly) which I presume are related to the lamps. All the wires are already coded correctly for DCC, interestingly enough.

Is it safe to just install a decoder in place of the current electronics, or do I need to fiddle about more?

TIA!
