N / Bulb replacement tips for Bachmann F7A Warbonnet
April 27, 2021, 07:58:30 PM
Hi folks,

Unfortunately I've broken the light in my Santa Fe F7A Warbonnet - part 10015, see image 1 below.

I'm trying to find a replacement, and unfortunately Bachmann are all sold out of the original bulb (https://estore.bachmanntrains.com/in...rlnrhdg6j7uem7).

I tried using a 12v 1.8mm LED, but I didn't use a resistor, so it flickered and didn't work (see below image 2)

So I've tried to purchase both an 12V 1.8mm LED with a resistor, and a 12V incandescent bulb 3mm x 9mm (see below, image 3). I'm concerned there is not going to be enough space in the loco for either!

Has anyone else had to replace their light bulb, and if so, where did you find one? Did using an LED with a resistor work?

Thanks a lot,

David

N / Can my engines run smoother?
December 27, 2015, 11:13:12 AM
Hi everyone,

I've got Bachmann's Santa Fe F7A + B units and they are a bit jerky when I first operate them. They also sometimes slip reversing the cars back into the siding. Apart from that, they run fine - it's just the shunting in and out of the siding that gives me a problem.

I've not had them long, but all my other trains are Kato. In comparison, they run smoothly every time.

Any suggestions what it might be? I've tried adding a (tiny) bit of oil, but it hasn't made much difference. Would getting rubber tyres for some of the wheels help?

Or is it just these aren't the smoothest runners?

Would welcome people's thoughts.

Thanks a lot,

David
