HO / Re: tender doghouses

Matt-
I've modified a few Bachmann locos to give them the "southern" look, but haven't messed with valve gear yet. I will have to say that I haven't had a whole lot of time recently to work on the HO stuff..... I'm also pretty heavily involved with 7.5 inch gauge live steam. I am about 1/3 finished with a 1.6 inch scale SRR Ps-4 built basically from scratch. Right now I have a rolling chassis with front and rear trucks finished, the next thing to start on is the cylinders, rods, baker valve gear.
The other locos in 7.5 I would love to do would be a Ms-4, Ks-1, a N&W A and a ET&WNC ten wheeler..... but at the rate Im going with the Ps-4 it will take a while. I have spent about a year so far working on it.
One thing I would really like is to get actual SRR green paint for it, I'm not sure where though.  I probably will contact TVRM at some point.

HO / tender doghouses
March 19, 2008, 03:50:19 PM

I am in the process of detailing some locomotives and need a source for tender doghouses. The only 1 I could find was a PRR style from cal scale I believe.
     Any ideas ?
Also has anyone done a SRR Ks, Ks-1, or Ks-2  2-8-0 in HO brass ?  I am seriously thinking about how I could change the Bachmann 2-8-0 to SRR valve gear.

General Discussion / Re: TVRM SRR 630 restoration
March 19, 2008, 10:50:48 AM

I was under the impression that the SRR gave the 1401 a full cosmetic restoration before giving it to the smithsonian. However there is a A&WP USRA heavy pacific in Duluth GA that they are trying to restore, the South Eastern RR museum just lacks the resources to do it. This would look very similar to a PS-4 with out the elesco FWH.
How close is the SRR 630 to being finished at TVRM ? What about the SRR 722 at the great smoky mountain railroad ?

General Discussion / TVRM SRR 630 restoration
March 17, 2008, 09:33:47 PM

How is the SRR 630's restoration at TVRM coming along ?
I also had heard that for the 4501's 100th anniversary TVRM wanted to have it run again. Can anyone confirm this?
The locomotive I would really love to see run is the Ps-4 1401.... but that will never happen due to other issues

HO / Re: United PFM Southern Ps4

I am a major SRR fan and would love to see one. I am currently building a 1.6 scale 7.5 inch gauge Ps-4....
Here are a few links to some photos of a freinds.

thought you might that interesting...  The second link is my build log which is in need of a major update!!!
But yes I would love to see Sepctrum, BLI, PCM or P2K offer a nicely detailed Ps-4.... Preferably with the elsesco FWH and the 14k long tender. But it wouldn't be too hard to detail a USRA heavy to look almost exactly like the Ps-4.
