Title: 2-6-0 Drawbar Pin
Post by: cowman on June 14, 2013, 12:01:04 PM
Some how the drawbar pin in the tender of my recently purchased 2-6-0 w/sound has fallen out.  At the moment the tender follows the loco being pulled by the wires.  I checked with the parts department and the part (MTS 36) is not available through Bachmann. Can someone please suggest a small screw size to replace the pin.

Thank you,

Cowman

Cowman,

If it were me, I would tap the hole for a 2-56 screw and use a 1/2" 2-56 screw.  After inserting the screw from the top, I would use a nippers to trim the screw to the length needed.  If the screw diameter is too wide for the drawbar, one could either file down the screw or use a 3/32" bit to drill the drawbar hole a little wider.

That's just me.  There may be a better solution.

Regards,

Jonathan

Another idea that I have used is to find an old ball point pen with the cheap plastic tube with the brass writing tip just removed the tip and drilled a matching hole and glued it in with super glue' worked like a charm....
