Title: Large Scale "Sierra Valley" boxcars
Post by: Cypress Hills on December 12, 2010, 03:15:15 AM
Can anyone provide info on the rather rare Sierra Valley boxcars produced by Bachmann.
Their product number?
Who might have some for sale?
Were they 1:20.3 or 1:22.5 or ...?

Thanks.

Hi:

I've never seen a Sierra Valley box car but they did make a Sumpter Vally Railway box car, #93353, with SVRy 1353 reporting marks in 1994.

There was a set made in 2007 for Orchard Supply Hardware called the Sierra Express. I looked for years for one ( I'm in Pennsylvania and OSH is on the west coast ) and finally got the 1st one I've ever seen on EBAY last year. Someone just had a broken set on EBAY with a melted engine and that is only the second one I'd ever seen. It really is a nice looking set. The passenger set from 2008 shows up every now and then and is a nice set also.

And note: The items Wade mentioned are all from the "Big Hauler" line, and are thus nominally 1:22.5 scale. I say nominally, because the Big Hauler line takes lots of liberties as to accurate scale measurements.
