Detailed diagram with 254 identified components. Now you don't have to ask about the thingamajig that connects to the whatchamacallit.

Bob, Bob, Bob. Its a whosiwhatsits not a thingamajig
No, I call it a "Thingamabob". A "whatsits" is your backside. :D
I can't find the jigger that links the thingamajig to the whatchamacallit. ???
Many thanks Yampa
I book marked
me, too. Although whosywhatsits has always worke for me.
Jeff,
In Aukland, a "Jigger" is a small 4 wheel motor car used to transport workers to the bush, similar to a "scooter".
A "Jigger" also means "a full tonnage of weight".
A "Jigger Valve" is used to conserve water.
:D
Hey Bob. Thanks for the diagrams of the steam engine parts. There I was running the hot-shot local (8 milk reefers & a combine with Uncle Sam's paper), and I couldn't remember where the Johnson Bar was located. Lucky for me I had my 1889 kerosene powered computer and was able to look that dang part up...it was right in front of me! I am also glad to see the locomotive, in the example, was an American 4-4-0.
It looks like the closest we will get to y'all is Colorado Springs which means you can turn the lights on (and here I was hoping for a good Colorado steak dinner).
Cheers,
Ray
[Still running the Tiffin down the line.]
Bob
A jigger is also a measurement of whiskey , usually 1 oz
Don
And I always thought a thingimabob was what the rail roads used on their north/south routes to control east /west trains ???
Don,
Yes, I have one of those also, just not listed in railroad jargon, at least not while on duty. :D
But since you mentioned it, I prefer Canadian Blended. 8)
Interesting web sites. But unfortunately they are incomplete. The other day, a doohickey fell off my engine, and I don't see it listed antwhere.
Bruce
Bruce - I had the same thing happen on a late night run (just short of the home signal)and Fireman Wally managed to hold it in place with a whatchmacallit...worked great until I could get back to the enginehouse.
Ray
Dear Grumpy,
A jigger is 1.5 fluid oz. From my college days, lots of jiggers consumed!
Best Wishes,
Jack
I don't think an American measure is as strong as a Canadian measure so we only use 1 oz.
Don

May well be, but according to my road foreman of engines, a jigger is what links the thingamajig to the whatchamacallit, and I still can't find it on that diagram.

We replaced all the doohickeys with widgets for just that reason: they kept falling off. One fell off the engine of the morning peddlar freight, shut down the engine, and tied up the whole line. The brass hats were really p.o.'d.
;D
Jeff,
The most important part is number 235. :D

Jeff,
The most important part is number 235. :D
Especially when the brass hats are p.o.'d. :D
Thanks, Bob!
