HO / driver out of quarter
May 24, 2012, 01:12:39 PM
I just purchased an HO  Bachmann 2-8-0 with sound and the main driver is out of quarter causing the drive rode on one side to not be in a straight line.
How can this be fixed? Or do I need a whole new driver to replace it?
If I send it bach to Bachmann will it be replaced with one with sound?

HO / Please re-issue the 2-8-0 with sound!!!

Why hasn't Bachmann re-issued their HO 2-8-0 with DCC AND sound?  This is a great loco and
needs to be brought back with sound.
How about it, Bach-Man,  please put in a good word to re-issue  this loco with sound!
Maybe if everyone suggests it Bachmann will do it!

I've had mine awhile and love it.
No problems and yes, I counted all the rivets and they
are all there.  ;D
I took mine apart and detailed the boiler, looks even better.

And I forgot, these sounds are with the Bachmann EZ Command.
Watch "The Favorite Spot" on Ebay.  They sell them cheat and also
auction them off.  I recently bought the Bachmann modern 4-4-0
with sound for $130 from them.

I just bought the 2-6-0 and it only has the chuff, bell, long and short whistle.
The modern 4-4-0 has the chuff, bell, long and short whistle, brake squiel, couple crash,
water pouring in the tender, reverse sound when direction is changed, dinamo( steam
generator wine), I think that is all.  I love it.   ;D

HO / Changing sounds on the Tsunami Digital steam decoder
February 06, 2012, 01:24:14 AM
I recently bought the Bachmann modern 4-4-0 with sound. But the bell rate is very slow and the steam blow down is extra loud.
The Spectrum Steam sound user's guide and Technical Reference instruction disk tells now to make changes.  But sounds pretty compicated.
But how do you change anything beside the channel for the decoder, from 3 to something else, using the Bachmann EZ Command system?  Can any other changes be made using that system or do I have to use another DCC system to make any technical changes descriped in the users guide?
Has anyone else made any sound changes to their DCC decoder?
There are three whistles available and I would like to see what they sound like too.
Thanks.

This happened with my 2-6-0. Just lights flashing.  Then I took it back to the shop.  They showed me that is what it does until you increase the power to get it going.  Did't look right to me but that is what mine did.  Then I got a cheap used Bachmann EZ Command throttle and run it on that with no problem.
Been in this hobby over 50 years and this is my first DCC and sound equipted engine and I'm hooked on sound now.
This engine will get wore out! ;D
Hope you get yours back soon.

HO / Re: Kit bash of new Alco 2-6-0 underway

Very nice job!
I detailed one too, and it does run like a dream.
But what about the headlight?  I didn't take mine apart to detail it.  I want to replace the headlight and
still have it work. Can the LED be saved and can the headlight casting just be pulled off?

Here's a link to my Photobucket with pictures of a Mantua 0-6-0 camelback I changed into a 2-6-0 and my
Bachmann Alco 2-6-0:

No,  the headlight is the correct size.  Look up pictures of a Green Bay & Western 2-6-0 that this model is based on. It is small, as other engines had small headlights.  I like 'em bigger too.  For now, I took a piece of brass tub, filed a visor and  an opening in it to slide it over the casting.  I want to try to take the boiler off but don't want to mess up anything electrical! ???
I added marker lights, new boiler front number plate, whistle, bell, drop plate between cab and tender, crew( who don't want to leave the cab!).  And the coal load just pops off.

Here's a link to my Photobucket, with pictures.  ( Never tried  using this link, hope it works!)

Sounds great to me!   ;D
I added a whistle, marker lights, drop plate between the engine and tender for the fireman, new number plate on the boiler front, weathering and a shorter coupler on the tender.  Which was not easy!  The box is too small at the end, the round shank is too big and I had to file down the coupler to get the cover back on.
And when I bought it,  the hobby shop was bragging of getting the same complete sound system so cheap!  Boy, was I suprised when I tried it out and no brake squiel or coupler crash sound.  The box only said sound.  Bachmann needs to list all sounds on the box so you don't get surprised.
Butttttttttttttt. I still love it.
How do you post pictures here, or can it be done?

Can the Bach-Man reply to what sound are included or has anyone tried it out using something different than the E-Z Command?
It was tried out at my local shop and I'm sure it had the brake sound, but can't can't remember about the coupler crash.

The number isn't right for the Pennsy either. But that's ok, I stripped off the name and number and added my own, plus  details: marker lights, new bell, whistle( there wasn't one!), new number plate on boiler front, crew, and a hinged platform between the engine and tender for the fireman.
I also changed the coupler on the tender to a shorter one. Not easy to do, the box is narrow at the end and the round peg for the coupler is to big for a Kadee or any other.
But it runs like a dream!
