HO / Re: NEW 2-6-0 disassembly and extra sounds

Using a different system other than the E_Z Command, it does have all the sounds, it's just Bachmann's own system won't play all the sounds in their own engines. So it does have all the features.
their E_Z Command only has the  bell, long and short whistle and steam release.

And Bill is right, the advertising doen not show clearly what you get for this engine, it only says it has sound.

Tried to change the coupler on the tender to a shorter shank and had to widen the end of the coupler box, make the hole in the coupler larger, and file down the coupler to get it to fit in the box.

The coal load pops out if you want to change it to an oil burner.

HO / NEW 2-6-0 disassembly and extra sounds
January 01, 2012, 05:29:37 PM
Hay Bach-Man, how do you take the boiler off the new Alco 2-6-0?  I want to add some piping and other changes without messing up the drive system?

GREAT little engine and it sounds great!

But why does your E-Z Command control not use more sounds? Besides the chuff there is only bell, two whistles, and steam blow down.  How about adding the brake squeal and the coupler crash?  There are plenty of extra buttons.
Any way these can be added to the E_Z Command system I have?
Thanks.

It was my old stype transformer that was the problem.  It runs like a champ now!
Love it!

I'm a fan of big headlights too.  The  model is based on the GB&W 2-6-0 which was built in 1924.  The plan is in the MR Cyclopedia volumn 1, page 46.   If  you check  2-6-0's on the internet, there are pictures of them with small headlights.
I don't know yet how to take the engine apart but might just try fitting a larger headlight over the small one.

Mine runs great, have to get a better DCC system.  I just picked up a used Bachmann EZ Command and all the sound it has besides the chuff is the bell, two whistles and a steam blow down. Wanted the brake squirel and the coupler clank.

Some of the cast on  piping might have to go, if someone can figure out how to take it apart.
My first sound loco and I will probably wear it out!

:'(  I just bought the new Alco 2-6-0 and can not get it to run on DC.
I am using an old MRC  power pack and that may be the problem. All I get is the lights flashing and according to the manual that means there is a problem. It says it does that when the track power is over 21 volts.  I have the pulse power switch off so that is not the problem.
The manual says it needs a "high quality, electronically regulated power pack...older rheostat style power packs... should not be used with this sound decoder."
I have also tried using the power pack from a Bachmann Thomas train set, and I get the same flashing lights.
Any ideas what the problem might be?  Do I need to get an up-to-date power pack?
Thanks.

HO / spectrum 2-8-0 wires cut
May 26, 2007, 11:20:38 PM
Bach-man:
I recently purchased an HO Spectrum Southern  2-8-0 that someone  had cut the plugs that are used to connect the engine to the tender. Is there a wireing diagram that shows which wires from the engine connect to which wires in the tender? Don't know why someone would do this. Thanks for your help!
