Title: Trolley reversing
Post by: Rocky on February 02, 2010, 02:05:49 PM
I just got 2 new Bachmann trolleys. Both run great through my little town but I want to have them run and auto reverse by themselves. What is the best way to do this? Does Bachmann have an n scale option?

Thanks.

Something like this: http://home.cogeco.ca/~rpaisley4/AutoRev4.html (http://home.cogeco.ca/~rpaisley4/AutoRev4.html) should work. Bachmann does not make a trolley reversing mechanism in N scale. You will need to separately purchase a reversing circuit along the lines of what is at the link I posted. Do not get confused with an Automatic Reverse Loop Module which only works with DCC and is mostly used for reversing loops.

I think this is what you are looking for. It uses photo cells to determine where the train is. You can add up to 5 stops I believe + auto reverse at the ends of the line.

Other reversing systems (i.e., point-to-point) can be found. One is at:
www.ironpeng.com/ipe
It can be used on any DC (2-rail) gauge track: G, O, HO, and N, but not 3-rail O-gauge. It's easy to install & only costs around $30.

Another is:

Some of these units can also be used to pause in a single loop, or even run in an auto-reversing loop. They too can be used for almost any gauge. More, both of these allow the pause time to be adjusted.
