Has anyone on here know about Chuggington? It's a show that's similar to Thomas shown in the U.K. There are clips of the show on YouTube and I personally like it myself. And here's some Traintastic news: Playhouse Disney plans to air the show and Learning Curve is also coming out with Chuggington Toys in the spring of 2010. So far, it's become a hit in most European countries and Canada, but do you think it will do well in the U.S. ?
you never know and welcome to the board :) :)

Thanks for the welcome! :) I'm pretty sure it would be fine in America. I told one of my friends about this and he was happy, but concerned because of Disney connecting to all this. He said Disney is like HiT Entertainment times 10!
i saw it on youtube, not bad but not good, saddest line, "i polished it myself, *looks at the trophy* hey im looking good!*everyone laughs"
yes Disney is horrible:( look what happened to Micky mouse! :'(
P.S. nice to have you hear!
It might well end up as much of a flop as Underground Ernie. I mean, Bachmann really did badly with that range.
Chuggington seems weird, it just doesn't look right IMO.

The Bachmann Underground Ernie range wasn't
that bad. The only one that looked weird was Jubilee.
I Have seen Chuggington episodes and they are so stealing ideas from Thomas. One episode was about the red diesal and a elephant Sound familiar? Another about all the engines racing, sounds like they want to copy the classic episode when Thomas and Bertie race. All it needs now are twins and a narrator from a famous band and it will be almost exactly like Thomas and Friends (But no very good, Chuggington I mean).
or just get a comiden like George Carlin... lets say... Dane cook? :D
O, don't mention that no good, dirty rotten, embarrasment of a TV show on any website I look at, I hate that tv show sooooo much, little kids enjoy but to me it's just pointless, I'll be surprised if it is a big hit in the united states. Up with Thomas, no matter what type it is. again I absolutely HATE that TV show. pointless is what I call It.
and another point (well 3) is that some of the engines are made up and others are based off of real engines, w/ some major adjustments like: there is an A4 (such a copy off of spencer) WITH OUT A TENDER!!!! where does the coal and water go? another point is that they don't even travel on real railway tracks, they travel on ( what look like to me ) weird iron girders. and my last point is why is it called chuggington when most of the abominations are diesels?

right there, thats what I absolutely hate about it, its just made up, stupid stuff like the track and the adjustments. I am glad someone sees what I mean. not exactly myself but to others who hate it too
Allow me to be a voice of reason here.
Chuggington is currently shown in the U.S. on Playhouse Disney. It is more for pre-schoolers than Thomas can or ever will be. There is no comparison between Thomas and Chuggington. It's like Underground Ernie. Simply another kid's show about trains trying to learn to work together.
And about the A4 with a bunker? Not so far fetched as you might think....
Built off the design of an A4, used during the Manchurian occupation. Credit goes to Nanaki on SiF for this.

That sounds like something Duck would say about diesals.

no this IS an A4 w/ out a tender i think it's name is Olwin. and another i have: the garbage engine also has glasses like whiff, yet another copy.
Also I think that Red Diesal is the only red engine in the series, Like A certain engine who's name begins with J and has a number 5 on his tender.
I personally dont ever want to watch playhouse disney again for their "amateur" ;) show mostly based on Thomas and Friends, it gives me shivers to think about how playhouse Disney could knock HIT entertainment off the charts in one move!
Dear me....
The loco that I poseted before is a European design used in China during that occupation. It simply looks like an A4. The loco that is in Chuggington is based off of Mallard, just with a few modifications; ie; installing a bunker. It is not just some random design.
Try not to be so narrow minded.
I discovered another Copy! :P The Ice cream trucks are in both shows to but the show that shall not be named took that to a new level, also the blue diesal is like the Class 40 one as seen in "Bowled Out". The Zoo cars, Zoo train, and Ice cream train is wierd too.
I've seen it a few times here. Not as good as Thomas, not even close. Just as someone else said, it just looks cheesy and cheap. Especialy the rails or whatever they use, sorta reminds me of a subway maybee.
I really prefer the actual model train sets from the older Thomas episodes, just think it's much cooler to see real model trains running in a real set than all the CGI stuff.

The Tracks remind me of TOMY tracks. And Also, the coal hoppers that Have a US design have Buffers! Also that is the only thing you see these dispicable Diesels pull, no passengers what so ever! Gordon would not like that and what about the children?!
Anyone else noticing a trend of low-quality, no sense, children's programming?
Anyone remember Theodore Tugboat, TUGS, obviously the original Thomas the tank engine?
i used to love Theodore. he did come on recently on a channel called "qubo" but it was like 12 EST at night and 3 EST, but unfortunately they took him off the air for good. and ya you do have a point. everything has to be "educational" and other stuff.
but back when TUGS and Thomas (the original series that were based on the books) made it look like you didn't even learn a lesson because you were so interested in things like explosions and fires (in TUGS), trains crashing.
now that i think of it, did you notice nothing has been "saved from scrap" since season 5 (old slow coach).

Yeah, I noticed that too.
Everything has to be all
Politically corrected up Political Correctors have gone too far. First the Rev.'s original writtings, then Britt Alcroft's version of the show being "Sexist" And now everything is all tofu farting fairies and tree huggers. I'm surprised HiT hasn't made a show about Thomas "saving the trees." Now that I said that, they probably will.
Sorry about my little rant.
Ah, here is the other one. I like chuggington. One of my favorite characters is Zephie. I hope bachmann makes chuggington models, especially in Gauge 3.

To meet my narrow gauge engines, of course! I only collect g scale 45mm eninges between the scales of 1:20.3 and 1:24. And gauge 3 is not as obscure as you think. Check out this link: http://www.gauge3.org.uk/ and you'll see what i mean.

Stop talking cruel!!! You're ruining my dreams!
He's not talking cruel hes talking honesty. If BACHMANN somehow did make CHUGGINGHTON, which in itself is very unlikley they would DEFINITELY be HO why?...... SO KIDS CAN MIX THEM WITH THOMAS.
It just makes sense, sorry if I crushed your dreams. ::)

This is true. Bachmann did Underground Ernie in HO/OO right? :P
They can be made in HO, too. But i want bachmann to give Gauge 3 a try. they might start a new trend.
Sorry, but it's not going to happen, probally bot even in HO/OO. I mean they didin't even have a five year anniversery or original writer who grew up in Britain. Thomas has a 65 year anniversay and the Reverand Wilbert Awdry was the original writer before his book series was to be a TV series along with movies, and products. Chuggington only has five minute runtime episodes and stupid die-cast models that can't even connect with Take-Along Thomas. UP WITH THOMAS!!! DOWN WITH CHUGGINGTON!!!

To go with what Sparks said, Thomas had something Chuggington probably won't, roots in reality. Of course those roots are almost dead now thanks to HiT, but nonetheless, I've seen clips of Chuggington, a sad excuse for a show. I've done better 3d animation, and I only took a semester long class.

I've been thinking and I've decided that Chuggington is not the best. Too many diesels and too much stretchyness.

Pretty much this. HiT only has the show with low quality because Britt pioneered the betrayal of the Railway Series. Shining Time may be nostalgic, but it's pretty "kiddie" and "watered down" compared to a darker theme showed in Season 1 and 2 episodes.. And even when those were on STS, they felt watered down, I blame Carlins Narration and script modifications. Magic Railroad pretty much threw away every cent of "consistency" the show had left. Gullane/HiT only followed.
looks like you had a bit of a backfire there sparks! ;D
Didn't notice til now :P
We all have our opinions. After all, were all different people

that brings up a question ive wondered about. i havent seen any thomas episodes in over a year (i cant find it any more on pbs), and i remember seeing somebodys avatar a thomas clip...that was moving, like the face was moving. so really, my question is, have the episodes become animated now?
Yeah, but the plots are otherwise the same. It's just the same thing we've gotten for years. :P

one thing i always notice is the ice-cream engine (Frostini), reminds me of the zephyr
