HO / How to open bulb housing on floodlight car
January 03, 2013, 09:55:04 PM
I have a floodlight car (16238).  Just tonight it caused a short-circuit on my track. I narrowed the problem to the light bulb housing.  I'm now trying to remove the lens from the housing.  Does anybody know if the lens is glued on or is simply held in by friction?

General Discussion / Trains stopping randomly
December 29, 2009, 07:00:05 PM
I was running a locomotive using the E-Z command controller I got for Christmas. Since yesterday one of my locomotives started to stop for a split second occasionally and start back up again. When it stops it does not stop at any particular place at the track. I checked the usual things such as the connection to my track, the wheels on the locomotive, and made sure that the track was clean.  I tried another locomotive and the same thing is happening.  I'm thinking that the source of the problem could be my E-Z command controller. I did unplug it and plugged it back in and the problem still exists.  Both locomotives that were used where the Bachmann standard line DCC on board locomotives.

HO / Need a decoder for a "GE 44 ton switcher"
December 25, 2009, 10:59:11 PM
I own a Spectrum GE 44 ton switcher #80041. It does not have an NMRA plug(sadly). I need a small decoder as there is not much room in the small locomotive.  Any advice is appreciated.

I just got an E-Z command controller for Christmas. I want to  be able to run my older DC trains with my DCC equipped ones.  The manual says that it recommends the #44212 controller for the required DC controller. I have a #46605A controller which appears to be very similar. Will my current DC controller work?

Also, according to the instruction manual's pictures and wiring diagrams when the E-Z command controller and DC controller hooked together is appears that the only power source for the entire system is the power pack connected to the DC controller, and no power pack is connected directly to the E-Z command controller.  Is this correct?

Sorry if my questions are stupid, this is the first time that I have used DCC.

Merry Christmas (and Happy Festivus lol)

HO / Spectrum F40PH issues
February 26, 2008, 11:35:55 AM
I own a Spectrum F40PH locamotive.  The first one kept on constantly derailing so I had to exchange it.  The second one I got still sometimes derails allthough rarely and can sometimes operate a little roughtly (doesn't always maintain a constant speed.  My other trains seem to work fine on the same track.  Any suggestions?
