On30 / Re: The New On30 2-6-0’s

The new 2-6-0's with on board DCC have tender pick up. The old analogue ones only have pick up from the loco.

Scotty B,
I second your idea! Bringing out low and high side gondola parts as "upgrades" is an awesome way to get us the option of 3 car types with the flatcar as a base.

Bach Man, do you ever for see Bachmann doing a reissue on it's original length On30 freight cars? Specifically the high side gon? Oxide red with no or data only would be fantastic.

On30 / Re: 4-6-0 Tsunami in 4-4-0 Inside frame

I can't say for sure on the 4-6-0 parts, but I used the Tsunami and speaker from a HO 2-8-0 and it fit perfect in the little On30 4-4-0. I later transferred that speaker and sound unit into a 4-6-0 and it fit there as well. I imagine Bachmann uses the same speaker in a number of locomotives to simplify their supply chain. Probably a safe bet the Tsunami units are the same size also.

On30 / Re: How about a Whitcomb 45T?

I used an SW9 chassis, Atlas I believe, with Quantum sound. Took quite a bit of work to both the shell and the chassis with a table top mill, but it runs very smoothly and the sound is great.

Ray,
I've ordered from Backwoods Miniatures several times and have found their shipping to the US to be very prompt. I have one of their Whitcombs as well as their Forney conversion and can highly recommend them.

The 15th Anniversary of the original 2-6-0 would be a perfect time to announce the upgraded version of the 2-6-0 with DCC and electrical pick up in the tender!   ;)

I'm easy to please. Re release the 2-6-0 with on board DCC/Sound and tender pick up.

On30 / Re: adding sound

I kept an eye on "an auction site" watching for HO Spectrum sound equipped 2-8-0's. I found a pair that I got cheaper than a new Soundtraxx decoder alone. After opening up the HO tender it was easy to see how the sound decoder and speaker mounted and plugged into the main board. Reverse the process putting those parts in the On30 Connie and you are good to go. It worked just as well on my 4-6-0 too. Best part, it's all plug and play Bachmann parts.
