Hello everyone,
i'm new to the forum so here goes, i've recently purchased a Bachmann Spectrum FT A and B unit from a model railway exhibition ( second hand) and would like to know without having to remove the shell if it is DC or DCC or both, it has a number under the A unit which is K091130
and the same number under the B unit. I am living in the UK and one of a few who are modelling n gauge American so i'm new to the manufacturers and models out there so if my question is a stupid one to any of you please forgive me.
Welcome.
I am in the USA and do not do N Scale.
I have run HO scale Bachmann DCC locos.
Bachmann decoders are dual mode. They run on DC and DCC. BUT, if someone disabled the DC option, they will not run on DC. You need a DCC controller to change the CV.
Your DCC controller should tell you if both units have a decoder or not.
Edit.]
I have used the NCE Power cab.

hi rich1998,
Thanks for the reply i'll have a go at checking it using my dcc controller, i will let you know the outcome. Thanks once again,
Regards, Arthur.
Ok. Your manual will give you instructions on setting up the loco decoder if there is one.
If the loco is only DC, it will buzz. Turn off the controller.
With a DC power pack, it should start running around two to three volts DC if a DC loco. Probably less for N scale.
Buying used can be a luck as you know.
Good luck.

The FT.. I think BACHMANN did this one only in HO-SCALE ages ago at one point. Here's two websites you might want look into http://ho-scaletrains.com , http://www.hoseeker.net/lit.html and https://www.hoseeker.net/nscale.htm . I trust these websites help.
