General Discussion / Smaller print....
September 05, 2008, 11:06:35 PM
I was surprised today to find that the new Bachmann format has smaller font size that it used to. Any suggestions, could this be the improved site? Let me know your opinions.

General Discussion / Possible glitch today?
September 01, 2008, 09:59:45 PM
Well today I was browsing around, and the site went away with the "Internet Explorer Cannot Display Page" thing, now everything worked with all my Internet, heck, I was looking at some cool UPs after I just opened a new tab. But for some time, I couldn't and it wouldn't let me get to the site, it wouldn't load it from Google's link. Also, every time I used the connection to the board through my 'Favorites' menu, it said the same thing:
"Internet Explorer Cannot Display Page"

So I have one question, anyone else with this problem today? I was able to get to every other site just dandy, not Bachmann, but everything seems okay now. Was Bachmann making repairs or something? Well whatever it was, I'm glad it didn't happen during a post I might of been making!  ???

HO / Whoa, a new kind of weird...
August 29, 2008, 01:03:43 PM
I serverely hesitated to post this:

FDT now is selling BLMA figures, duh, but these are different.
See now they are characters mooning... I don't want to get in trouble so I won't post a link and/or photo. But this:

Once a year in Southern California, thousands of folks participate in a full day or mooning every Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, Metrolink, and BNSF freight that moves along the line. Oddly enough, this event attracts news media from all over the country on an annual basis. DISCLAIMER: These are intended for nothing more than a good laugh. FDT & BLMA Models do not endorse public nudity, flashing, or any other act of exposing ones private parts.

~FDT.com

Neither do I, another reason is that I WON'T be an engineer in CA!

Some things in life are unavoidable. Sometimes we see things we don't necessarily need to. Train crew's see interesting characters on a daily basis - why shouldn't your model railroad?

On the flip side, I saw some awesome neons under the pic. <I liked the Heinz one the best!>

General Discussion / Con-Cor and Bachmann...
August 16, 2008, 10:57:40 PM
Dear All Who Read,
   http://www.all-railroads.com/instock/homp15.htm
Well, well, well, lookie here. E-Z maters, well at least they went with some good ones, but I like Kadee a bit more.  ;)

I think this is a good sign, for Con-Cors Bunches-of-Olds are a nice deal, Electroliners, Burlington Zephyrs, M10000, and so on, I think that E-Z mates will do fine.

BUT! Does anyone know WHY?  ???

Sincerely,
   Josh B.

HO / ALCO U-Boat details?
August 04, 2008, 01:43:12 PM
Recently, I aquired a load of trains for only 10 bucks a powered engine. He gave me a new Walthers ALCO, with an older Bachmann U-Boat. He striped the paint off, and it has nothing on it. I need to know this CRITICAL factors about BNSF:

  • What roadnumbers did BNSF have on it's ex-BN U-Boats?
  • Is there any detail kits for BN U-boats?
  • Is there any BNSF sublettering for the ex-BNs?
  • Can I have a picture of a real ex-BN U-Boat with BNSF sublettering?
  • Can anyone find any handrails for a Bachmann U-Boat< for the missing hand railing wasn't just bars, but also part of the body.>
  • Where can I find Piano Wiring <If I can't find a Bachmann U-Boat railing.>?

Thanks for any help. If I finish it, I'll post pictures, I will see about pictures about the things I got for CHEAP from him.

P.S. I got a fully pre-model ICRR SD from him, for 5 bucks <dummy>!

General Discussion / Train Quiz.
July 24, 2008, 03:37:47 PM
Well they say you must know your history, I know there is a lot of smart people on this board, I was just wondering who could solve some Quiz questions. More for fun, and knowledge, than to compete. So the first question is:
In January, 1829- Delaware & Hudson railroad ordered 4 steam locomotives. These were the first every steam locomotives to be owned by the D&H railroad. What freak accident happened to two of the never-used locomotives? 2: Which ones got destroyed?
Answer comes after 3 guesses, or if the correct answer is given.

General Discussion / What a day...
July 17, 2008, 08:48:15 PM
I came home, my mom told me our nice neighbor passed away. She was old, but she got me a lot of things for me, and before she died, well right before, she got something she wanted me to have, 'just in case', they gave me it. It was a B&O worlds fair necklace from 1933, it says:
"Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Safe Comfortable, Dependable. Across that, Chicago- 1933. Other side, America's first railroad, first air-conditioned train."
Plus, ironicly, it's B&O week...and she didn't know either...

Ah, On30, what would be considered a good sized layout, and can it stand the rain out side, refering to a garden railroad, or just an outdoors train? Now this layout must by scaled by and HO 4x8 one, so I know it's average, unless I can just use it outdoors, I already now the balasting skill from a magazine I bought, and that can be my reefer.

General Discussion / 1960 Model Trains Magazine.
July 12, 2008, 08:18:25 PM
As we visited the local model railroad muesum, as always, I ran through the pile of old model railroading related magazines they have on sale that are at no use. All are from 2000 to the year 1985. I found one I liked, and my father bought it for me, after I had some fun driving their O scale Alaska Railroad passenger run with Thomas the Tank Engine for the kid there. I read a New York Central fireman checklist book for a time, then we left with our newly obtained magazine. On the trip home, I found out it was dated:
January, 1960. Also, a funny discovery was made, the cover price is 35 cents, we purhased the magazine for only 25 cents. Probably the only thing old that isn't worth more, but less. I included a scanned picture of the cover, the scanner's rays brought out the dotted pigment, but you can still mostly make it out.

But due to the size being more then allowed for attachments, and me not allowed to have a Photobucket account lacks us the picture. Any ideas?

I love the Thunderbolt 1000Ts... Anyone know what material he used to make it? I wanted to try shaping or modeling some other sirens for my layout, after all, Thunderbolts were made in the 1940s. And I could always make some other sirens. Just don't for get the logo!

You can post your answer/guess here on Bachmann as well, but fell free to get it done by leaving a Yahoo! comment too.
;) After five guess, and the locomotive/picture shown is not the answer.
Good Luck-

HO / Should it be less steep?
June 09, 2008, 05:15:42 PM
My friend's layout is at an angle to were about 90% of his engines can't pull 5 cars up the hill, plus it is a cuved incline. It appears to posbaby be an 6.0 or 6.5, or even 7.0 grade. Should I lower it? I can't make and major improvments because of the tight space.
Any help?  ???
