I just recently got an Acela car. I notice it had it own h bar couplers. I want to know if possible to use regular coupler so I can connect to other regular train cars. Thank you for your help, all the other post on this question are old and want to see if anything new
Here's a video of what one guy did to be able use Kadee couplers.

If you read the comments under the video, some folks are using Kadee's NEM couplers.

Kadee or Bachmann couplers with the NEM style shanks can be used to replace the drawbars the Acela cars come with.

Thank for the help. Which size should I get! Medium? I know engine should be long.
How long is the car? Also, I have searched far and wide, but I can't seem to find anything about h-bar couplers. What in the world do they look like? I have a feeling I've seen them before and just didn't realize it...
Acela couplers are available here:
Long Coupler:

Short Coupler:

NEM Shank Knucle Coupler:

I believe the 'Long Shank' Kadee NEM knuckle couple is the right one for the Acela if you want to convert to knuckle couplers.
