I forgot to add a SR&RL pulpwood rack.  Would be easy for Bachmann I would think - just add the rack to the existing production flat. 

I think there are several EBT prototypes that would sell well and not to just EBT fans, but the many freelancers in the On30 world of modeling.

The steel box cars would do well I believe - Bachmann would probably have to use some creative modeling license (sp?) and reduce it in size - so let's call it a EBT styled steel box car.

Given the popularity of the Goose in EBT styled lettering, the actual EBT railbus, I think it is M-1 or M-3? would be wildly popular and serve as the starting point for countless kitbashes and repaint jobs by the freelance modelers.

Finally, an EBT caboose would be popular as a larger caboose to serve as an alternative to the small caboose Bachmann produces.

I also think that for a really cool alternative piece of passenger equipment, the Lawndale combine would be great.

My last suggestion would be a neat alternative and the western modelers would love it as well - the closed vestibule coach on the Linville River/ET&WNC.  The western guys could use it as a means to obtain a "San Juan-like" set of cars and the freelancers and easter narrow gauge guys could have a neat and modern piece of narrow gauge varnish.

I would buy all of the above if put into production.  Just my several cents on the matter.

Shay Number 8 on the Mann's Creek line - again - have to love the stack.

Any of the S. S. & S. locomotives - interesting little line.  If you can find the book The Company - it tells the history of this railroad.

The Lawndale - those 2-8-0s are tiny!  That combine rules!

Again more Southern than eastern, any of the sugar plantation lines in Louisiana - Butler's Down Among The Sugar Cane is required reading if you can find it.

All you have to do to convert a Grandt On3 product to On30 is purchase NWSL replacement wheelsets that are specifically made for Grandt On3 trucks.  These wheelsets are On3 axles made for the Grandt line trucks, with the wheels gauged to On30. 

It's that easy.

To me the real issue for a 4-4-0 is the mechanism and body.  It will get converted and redetailed to what I want it to look like.  I would probably wind up with two - one as a cabbage stacked wood burner and the other as a straight stack oil burner.  Thus, I would wait for a less expensive one from Bachmann.

The 2-6-6-2 though, I will obtain from MMI.  The Sumpter Valley 2-6-6-2s are my all time favorite big narrow gauge power. It will be my one piece of superpower and given its size and weight, as a die-cast locomotive, it will probably pull every piece of rolling stock I have.

Add a Heisler to the roster and no more locomotives.

Bachmann and MMI probably compete for a slightly different market.  I probably won't get a 4-4-0, as much as I want one, but have to have a 2-6-6-2 - this will be the only truly BIG POWER on my railroad.

My favorite type of locomotives, narrow gauge or standard, are the big articulated locomotives.  I am willing to pay for one of these - it will be the "showcase" locomotive on the lay-out.  I am also willing to bet that since it is die-cast, it will be heavy and will be able to pull every piece of rolling stock I own.

Again, MMI probably gets more of the "brass oriented" modeler as their stuff is well detailed - it is just that the price of brass had become unaffordable.  Die-cast allows for nearly as detailed locomotives at a reasonable price - compared to that of the same locomotive in brass.

Boring for who?  Some of us really want a Heisler.

I almost hate to post this message here, but given the pestering of the poor BachMAN on this site about the desire for a 4-4-0 in On30, I can post the news so we will leave him alone on this matter.

MMI, the die-cast division of PSC, has announced a 4-4-0 to be released in both On3 and On30.  You can go to the web site for Southwest Narrow Gauge to see the exact details.

MMI will also be bringing in the Uintah/Sumpter Valley 2-6-6-2s in both On3 and On30.

With the arrival of these two locomotives, the Kentwood & Southern will only be lacking a Heisler, hint, hint, and its steam roster will be complete!

I am using the power unit from a Bachmann On30 Trolley as the power unit for a Tom Yorke diesel switcher kit.  I am also doing my first ever DCC install as well.

The installation directions say to make sure the motor is "isolated as not all motors come isolated and ready for DCC installation."  First, what does this mean, and second, is the motor on this power unit "isolated?"

Second, which direction is "forward" or left rail or right rail on the unit and how can you tell?
