N / Re: power loss

There are still power routing turnouts. Especially in a grey brand, that looks like Bmann track. Google your turnout to see it it is routing. To your question if there is no power, at the track, you will need to hunt it down, with a DC volt meter. If you have voltage, at the end of the feeder, that you can still touch, but not at the track, it's cut off somewhere. I think, if it were shorted (the 2 lines touching) you would overload the supply.  Ballast or an unfortunate missed connection is my guess. Does the reading change, if the switch is thrown vs straight. Did it work, before you ballasted? A picture marking where the feeders are, and the track brand will help. You might just need to solder in a feeder.

There is a great sale, on a very good Bachmann loco (new, not eBay). With Vandy Tender. Might be worth a look. Message me, if google can't take you there.

will a Bachmann 2-4-0 N scale steam loco run on 8.5 radius track? I want to pull Civil war cars and I own a Spectrun that is quite old but runs perfectly.
I was unaware they had a 2-4-0, the only real life ones I am aware of to have operated in the USA are at Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio.

If you mean 4-4-0, 2-6-0, or 0-6-0, the answer is yes

Sorry there is a thread about 8.5 radius. I didn't realize 2-4-0was a typo there is a 2-8-0 that will do it. Not the Bmann. The smaller locos will

 :(B man.
I just opened up 44847. The minimum voltage on the variable output is 6.67 VDC. Is my controller defective, or is it a design flaw/limitation? It takes your trolley 61085 (the one depicted on the box), directly to ludicrous speed. The trolley runs great at 2-3 VDC. If it is truly the min voltage, I'll be sadly returning the set.

Please advise.

Thanks
Marty

I'm running the latest DCC equipped Spectrum 2-6-0 on 8 1/2 radius tonight. It's creeping along nicely!

I'd put it on an unpowered siding and use it as scenery. If you are going DVC, get a newer model. Bachmann steam is WAY better now, and UHC ofit is DCC equipped to start.

Perfect! That's the answer. I had the instructions and they had a single 5" length at each end. I was thinking of switching from trolleys to a multi at commuter train, so it the powered unit had to cross the line, it wouldn't work. 1st metal wheel works. Excellent.

Bachmann,
Hi. Does the direction reverse when the whole train leaves the auto reversing track, or when the first metal wheels leave, or..?
Does it need any minimum voltage? Hoping I can have the trolley, or train creep along. This are my remaining question, before buying.

Follow up. The set 0-6-0, of a vintage grey gears, front traction tires, rapids couplers(80s or 90s) runs and pulls, like a new release. Plenty of cars, for actually running trains. I got them both to 13, before anything started struggling. I'm a happy man

N / Anyone using the auto reversing track?
April 04, 2017, 12:13:34 AM
My Bachmann Trolleys and streetcars run so well, this intrigues me. I know there are sensors and such, you can use with any track, but this seems simple. I like simple. Can anyone using it, tell me about it?

Thanks
I do intend to try to updating an MP.
If we are sneaking in vendor names... that is my favorite feepay vendor.
As for the Christmas set. I'm hoping Bmann does a good set, with the closed back loco, until then I'm going to look for a few clean looking shells, that I can swap guts and such. It will be a nice intro to trying to get an old ConCor 2-10-2, I'm fond of, running and then doung some work with more expensive locos.

I have the new style. It just about fits. I think I'll need to sand the inside of the Christmas shell, a bit. I don't want to lose the one I have, so I'll look for another. Thanks.

Thanks
Fee Pay. If I don't get one this way, I'm just going to have one painted, or wait for the new version. Per the Bach Man, the Christmas set hasn't been released, with the latest hidden motor, yet. So it's a guess, or luck? Darn, I was hoping the current transformer was circa 2004 or later.
Thanks
